View Full Version : Ruger lcp.....front sight!!!!
ok, went to shoot my lcp last week and thought my lcp really needed a front sight....(yes its a bad breath gun, but i shoot what i carry)...so i got my dremel and opened a small hole in the front sight and started to enlarge it till i was satisfied with it...a small amount of white auto touch up paint and my lcp has better "VISIBLE" FRONT SIGHT....HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE........:amflag:

I think it might beGB6491 who posted awhile back some nice custom drop in upgrades for the lcp, like steel trigger and some utter sh!t.

Looks nice and is functional too, good job!!!.....Now I want one of the new LCP's with factory sights and improved trigger....So many guns, so little time.
that is the new lcp, 2 gen as they say...the trigger is shorter, but not much as far as usable sights....thats why i did what i did.....

A great idea and equally great job.
+1 Recently got a new lcp and so far loving it. That is a great idea, and something I might try down the road. Thanks for the post. :)
That really is nice work, Kiki.
I'm curious, did you free-hand that, or did you set up a jig to hold the Dremel and the gun in alignment?
thanks....free hand, started with marking center with sharp point, dremeled with small drill cuter (round ball type) then move up to bigger bit and enlarge hole to as big as i could go, retouched with insta bluing and painted with automotive touch up paint...it holds up better to oil and solvents...
Outstanding work. I've never had great luck plunging a hole with the tip of a ball-nose burr without the bit "walking" a little. You have a steady hand.
start with smallest bit and once you have small hole, bit wont walk and also go slow no need to rush at high speed......

Good job! Only thing I would have done is got some of that glow in the dark sight paint, and used it. That stuff you hold under a light bulb for a minute to energize it and it glows for awhile. But that is still a vast improvement over the stock front sight.

Nice job. You should be very proud of that job. I could see me totally screwing up the gun if it tried that.
I have to agree on the LCP sights not being up to the task. I just got mine back Friday from having night sights installed and what a difference it made in the way it shoots. This gun is pretty accurate when you can see the sights.
post pics would love to see that,.......

The work was done by Innovative Arms. It was $160 which sounds like a lot until you consider they have to machine dove tails in the front and rear of the slide, refinish it,press in sights, and they polished the barrel. The feed ramp looked like chrome when it came back. Should feed everything. They were also faster then I expected. Turn around time was 2 weeks. For $10 more they will do a matt chrome or color finish on the slide.

actually thats not alot of $$$ for all that work...considering ive paid over $100 just for night sights..in the past nice work!!! very nice

Excellent job on the sight. Also, a very good job of explaining how-to-do-it, an a step by step manner.

Didn't think I'd need another LCP over the early one.
You guys are awful hard on my wallet.

I put a dot on the ramp of mine a while ago, but for a point and shoot weapon it's not really needed IMO

agree, POA is what this gun is madeto do well. I always thopught theselittel guns really need no sights but they put um on I think because we gun buyers think they should be there. Maybe what Parrothead did is the right way to go. I sure would not spend lot of money to do much different on these "hand' shaki9ng guns..
