Welcome to the forum.
No safety on most Kahr handguns, but rather a long dao trigger.
Did you mean the slide lock on the side of the slide or maybe the magazine release button? If either of those, then yep, the pistol is very tight when new. Both will loosen up some in time with use. Kahr wants you to consider running 200 rounds though it and it will loosen quite a bit in that amount of rounds.
If you have not already done so, you may want to go over the stickies in the New Member Area forum for topics like the proper prepping of the pistol and such.
Enjoy.

Do you have the new LCI/enhanced trigger/safety model? If so I haven't heard too many reports on them but wouldn't be surprised if it was pretty tight just out of the box. Kahrs don't really loosen up with time but they do get smoother IMHO. Expect the same for your safety.
Mainer,
There has not been a lot of talk on this forum about the Mass compliant models. Most of us don't have experience with them. But, like all things mechanical, I expect it will loosen-up with use. Work it, back-and-forth, a few hundred times to accelerate break-in.
The bigger question is, why would someone from Maine buy a MA compliant gun?!!

it might loosen up somewhat if it is flicked on and off a few hundred timrs but just shootin it IMO will not loosen up that part. again tightness is in the eyes of thge beholder to. Maybe kahr wants it tyo be alittle stiff kand not so flippy that it can and cannot be engaged when needed. Never having one in my hands I am at a loss to say anymore.
welcome aboard.
I think u have a dam nice peace there give it some time work alittle in that area and maybe some oil in that area and working it has to help somewhat. May nbot ever be what u want and again maybe kahr wants it to be a certain stiffness to..
