What ammo do you carry on your cw45? Have you all found any defensive ammo that your gun doesn't like?

Mine has always gladly eaten whatever it was fed. For SD I carry Federal 230gr +P HST.

What is the benefit of +p?

Mine won't eat Hornady. It has something to do with the length or how far the bullet is seated or shape or something.

Mine takes federal fine. Haven't tried anything else.

I had an issue with Hornady Critical Defense when trying to eject a live chambered round when my cw45 was new. Felt like the slide was locked up. It took a lot of force to rack the slide to eject the round. The Hornadys that I fired in it ran fine (only a few mags), but after having this issue several times I switched to Federal HST for defense ammo. Did a little interweb research and found this is a common issue due to Honadys being slightly longer/fatter and Kahrs tight chamber. Just my experience - yours may not have this issue. The good part is my cw45 has been flawless in live fire to this point (approx 400 rounds with various ammo).

Slightly higher velocity. 45ACP is just barely fast enough to open up hollow points at 850fps so every little bit helps. The recoil between +P and standard ammo is not noticeable to me on this weapon.

The recoil was my next question.... Is the +p bad for your firearm?

The Kahr is rated OK for +P ammo, most modern firearms are also. The +P+ is a gray area for most manufacturers.

I myself personally try to stick with standard ammo especially in a real caliber like the 45. Even if it doesn't expand a hollow point it's gonna ruin your day in a big way.

Correct! A 9mm won't always expand but a 45 will never shrink.

A non-expanding hollowpoint is no better than FMJ.

Never have run any HP stuff thru mine, just WWB, Monarch, Federal, & Remington FMJ.

Always goes BANG, just like a Hollywood hooker.

I'm using Winchester PDX 230 grain hollow points, it is all I can find in my area.

Like Corbon DPX either 160 gr or 185 gr, both supposedly develop enough speed to open as designed. Prefer DPX in all my handguns except my original K9, they seem to be too long for the mag due to being all copper. Funny but they seem to feed OK in my CM9. Could be the older mags for the K9 are a bit shorter than ones that came with CM9?
