View Full Version : Your favorite carry gun to shoot

What is your favorite carry gun you enjoy to shoot, for me I think I feel in love with my XDM compact 45 after I got to run right, that’s my colder weather carry gun with the clothes I were at this time of the year. In warm to hotter days I carry my CM9 there is nothing you can not put that on and see it. Both shoot good but I still like the 45 platform, Hum maybe a Pm 45? Might help with that. So what do all you guys carry and shoot?

My CW45 is good, my CM9 also. Hard to choose between the 2.

CM9 beyond any doubt. Accurate and inexpensive to feed.

For me it is my CW9, I like it for carry, and the more range time I give it the better I shoot it.

For all around use. CM9. Does everything I want it to do and doesn't break the bank.

My favorite carry gun to shoot is an STI LS9 9mm.After that would be my Ruger 1911CMD. I enjoy shooting my Kahr's but not as much as my single action autos.

K9 Elite. Hands down the best shooter of my carry guns.

PM40 with CTL most of the time here in the north country. When we RV during winter months of Hot Fl days it's my wife 's S&W BG380... Very light and compact for pocket. If don't see that I'd be comfortable with any more weight nor bulk than these two....for now.

I love both my carry guns (K9 & XDm) but if I had to choose a favorite to shoot it would probably be the K9. It's has such a smooth trigger and functions without a hitch that it has been my favorite CC pistol for two years.

I only carry one, but I have several that I'd label as "carry" guns. Mostly Kahrs, (surprise), but a nice S&W and a couple Sigs and a couple HKs.

* Carried a Beretta 84 for many years. The best .380 ever. Retired now but still a jewel.
* Like Chrish, my favorite Kahr is the TP9, but the K9 with elite trigger is close behind.
* My S&W 908 is a nice gun but I don't shoot it as well as some others.
* I occasionally carry a Sig P232 in a shoulder holster. These are one of my favorites.
* I bought my first HK P7 thinking it would be my new carry. Great gun but I didn't go with it.
* The HK USPc is as good as guns get. The C&L crowd should love it.

But the winner and champ is the incredible HK P2000sk. The little gun that feels like a full sized duty pistol. Shoots all day, feels smooth and easy from the first shot to the last. That it takes my USPc mags is a bonus. I love this gun.

My favorites to carry and shoot is a toss up. For strictly carry characteristics, my favorites are the cw9 and cw40 size single stacks. To me they are about the perfect size for iwb carry.

I prefer the double stacks over single stacks for being easier to shoot. Guess that is due to the larger grip filling up my hand better.

So today I would pick the M&P9c as the one I like best to both carry and shoot.

I a have a few and they all have pros and cons.
1911 Kimber because it is beautiful and feels comfortable to shoot.
Downside. Big, heavy and low capacity

Kahr P40 because it is small and light.
Downside: not fun to shoot, snappy caliber, low capacity

MP 9 because it is easy to and comfortable to shoot, high capacity
Downside, big a bit on the heavy side

If I had to pick ONE it would go to the MP 9

Remember according to Clint Smith, a carry gun is suppose to be comforting, not necessarily comfortable however with proper application both can be easily attained. I once again give you the winner, this picture sure comes in handy sometimes.

The CW45 is my favorite to shoot by far, the LCP not so much (it chews up the skin "web" between my thumb & trigger finger).

The S&W Bodyguard Airweight is nice, but I can't hit nuthin' with it.

Most fun to shoot of late, partly because it is still a novelty. Most likely, the PM40 will eventually regain "favorite" status.

This one came Bobtailed. I bobtailed my Para Ordnance. I'm tempted to bobtail my Ruger 1911 too but I'm trying to fight the urge. It's nice as is. I really do like a bobtail though.

Bawanna, I want you to radius that baseplate to mimic the bobtail on that 1911. The square edge of the baseplate interrupts the flow. Just 45 degree that back edge of the baseplate and I can sleep better tonight.

I shall tackle your aforementioned task post haste first available spare moment. You might get one more sleepless night but tomorrow is Friday, also known as the last Violet day of the week and I'll get it handled forthwith.
How I've managed to carry the thing with that blatant eyesore is an absolute wonder to me.

While I do not dislike shooting any of my carry guns, this is my favorite. 10-5 from 1962. Still needs cleaning from my last outing.

Actually, I'm pretty happy I can still lift it. Back when I could actually see, it was really fun to shoot. It is a heavy version, with a weighted stock and a wonderful trigger. So I don't carry it far. I'm not as good with iron sights as I once was, but still love that trigger.

Honorable mention goes to my HK P2000SK 357 Sig.
I actually carry the SK five days a week in business attire.
And it's a blast to shoot.
But when I can dress as I please?
It's Tactical time.
And I shoot the USP Tac 45 way more often than any other handgun i've got.
It's effortless to shoot well.
And delivers accuracy on a whole different level.

I carry the P380 the most and I really do enjoy shooting it.

I shoot the CW40 the best, but any more, I carry it the least...

Trying the S&W 642 but hate the factory boot grips. Gunshow this weekend, we'll see if the "grip guy" vendor has a set of Craig Spegel extended boot grips. If this vendor has none, I'll have to order some from Craig but that's a four to six week wait. Worth it for sure, but I'm just looking for some useable grips for this gun, nothing too fancy.
Maybe with different grips I'll enjoy shooting the little beast...

...But I still carry it for now. Hey it's a S&W, it will go bang if needed.

I've been carrying one of my 1911 style pistols quite a bit of late and they (1911s) are surely my favorite centerfire pistols to shoot.:)

I carry my m&p 340 thr most (for work) but don't really like to shoot magnums out of it. I rarely carry my mk9 or my mk40 but as far as range time it would be my EMP that I like shooting the most. My 2 Kahrs mostly are oiled up and put in the safe.

Favorite carry gun to shoot you ask??

That is an interesing question. I only have two "carry" guns and I like to shoot both of them, but I suppose my favorite one to shoot would be my Ruger SP101.

ditto .... 1997-98 Kimber Stainless Compact here. No longer carry it much as I've tried to simplify life with DA pistols and revolvers with similar weight triggers. I've been considering getting the trigger nastified from the 2.2 lb target grade back to 5 lb and maybe put it back in it's rightful place IWB, where it belongs.

ditto this one too ....although I don't currently carry my previously mentioned Kimber, I do carry my 3" SP101 almost every day in the field and around the house. Once I get a trigger job done on the Kimber, it and the SP will most likely get all the carry time. I love stainless :D
