I believe many will agree that the Plastic captured guide rod that comes with the MK is like finding out the new Kimber 1911 has a cheap plastic MSH. I was torn between the SS guide rod (should come stock with the gun) and the Wolff. I prefer the standard guide rod as opposed to the Glock type captured system), so I ordered the Wolff.
I was under the asssumption that the Wolff was all metal, but today when I received it, I found out that the plug is plastic. I don't know if this the way it's aways been or something new. Now the plug that comes with the Kahr is metal, so I assembled it using the Kahr.
The dimensions of both the Kahr and Wolff appear to be identical, but while it functions properly manually cycled, I haven't had a chance to test it. I don't have a great deal of extra time, my Mom had a stroke this year and I spend most of my extra time going back and fourth.
I will try to post a picture as soon as I can, but can I ask the Kahr experts;
Since they seem to be identical, does it sound - sound to mate the Wolff rod with the Kahr plug?
Thanks for your help.

Hopefully, somebody with "hands on" will chime in here.
I don't have a "MK" series Kahr, but I would be interested in hearing how this works out for you.
FWIW, I always thought the Wolff parts were all metal. Still, if the metal and plastic parts are dimensionally the same in all aspects, I don't see why they wouldn't interchange in this particular application.

Thanks Greg for showing interest in my question. I still haven't had a chance to test it out, but it seems that it should.
I have to admit, I was surprised that no one from the MK collectors "chimed" in.
Anyway, thanks again Greg for your response.

Sorry, I thought the Wolff parts were all metal too. I'm thinking (and hoping) this will work out fine for you. I cheaped out and just run the factory Kahr set up because it works and is inexpensive. The plastic doesn't bother me. Can't wait for your report. Sorry about your mom. Many of us have been thru it too.

I have a Wolff rod and spring in my MK9................all metal. I know it's all metal, because I polished the nose. They do look identical to each other, factory and Wolff. Can't say whether they are making them in plastic, now, or not. I got mine a while back. My factory rod doesn't come out of the plug easily. I have never tried to disassemble the factory setup. Looking at the two though, I don't see why there would be an issue using the factory plug.

I want to clear up my own ignorance concerning the Wolff plug. It is in fact metal, not plastic as I originally thought.
I is so light and with the enamel finish, I used a magnet to test it. It held to the rod itself, but not the plug which is why I thought is was plastic. I used a stronger magnet (other than my wife's attached to the frig) and it held. It could be an alloy of some nature, but please forgive the misinformation.
The Wolff plug is definately metal.
When time permits, I am going to remove the finish from at least the front of both so it matches.
These newbies can be a real pain sometimes.

Thanks for the follow up:)
It's good to hear that Wolff has continued to make them out of metal.

My MK9 going with Wolff non captive recoil system
After installing a Kahr stainless steel rod and not being happy with its appearance I installed a Wolff non captive system which I had polished. It looks so much more professional and with no need to worry about a loose screw on cap and with the future ease of changing springs I think this is the best way to go. See the pictures of the KAHR SS and the wolff system below....Bullstone
