I purchased one of the new production LCP's of few weeks ago. On my first range session at about round 75 or so the entire slide flew off. (I hit the target with that round btw). I was standing there in amazement with the frame in my hand thinking what the heck just happened?? My first thought was that I had reassembled it incorrectly after my initial cleaning or possibly the takedown pin had broken. The weird part is that the takedown pin was still completely intact and in place. I found all the parts and put it back together and couldn't see anything wrong with it, very strange. I contacted Ruger and they also said ...very strange. They immediately e mailed me an overnight shipping label and I sent it back on their dime. In a little over a week they contacted me and said they were sending me an entirely new pistol. They called me and then contacted my FFL by phone to get my new LCP shipped to me as fast as possible. Outstanding customer service!
According to Ruger the problem was that one or both of the holes the takedown pin goes through were machined out of round which allowed enough slack or lee way to allow the slide/barrel to escape.
Anyway, today I took my 'new' LCP out and fired 100 flawless rounds through it. I limp wristed it, rapid fired it, etc. It is good to go. The new trigger is very good btw.
I love a happy ending.

I had that happen on my kel tek P32 once, the barrel lug broke off when the gun wnet bang and everything left the area. Kel tek sent me a new comlete upper, slide and barrel etc, and damn if not in the first magazine , THE FOKKING BARREL LUG brke off again It was so pourous, it was scvary. Everything new again replaced by Kel tek, and then I PEDDLED IT.

I actually had bought a 1'st generation P32 used, before this Ruger. It was a mess so I traded it back in on the LCP I have now. No money lost. I am sold on this new LCP. About $330 out the door.

+1. It's a good gun.
I put the Hogue grip made special for the LCP along with the new frame pin that holds it on and man, it's a completely different gun now.

+1 on the lcp. I also bought one recently at a local gun show for about $286 out the door, and have put about a hundred rounds through it without any problems. Really like the new trigger, recoil not too bad at all, and the little thing is accurate !:D

Bizarre things happen. I own an LCP along with several other Rugers and I love them all. Great to hear about the fine customer service.
I've owned several Rugers over the years. I found they have great customer service.

Wild & weird experience with thaT LCP!
Am glad it worked out ok with you.
My early LCP has done fine - no flaws at all so far.
Same with my first generation Kel-tec P32 which is still in the safe.
My KT P3AT got off to a rough start but eventually ran good. Traded that one towards my new CW45.
Lucky me - I've never had to use Ruger's customer service for any of the 12 new guns I've bought from them over the years since 1959.
We have a lot of Ruger guns in our household over the years. I ordered a special ivory grips for my wifes vaquero and the original grip panel screw doesn't fit the new grips panels. Called parts up this morning and they apologized and are sending out a free screw in the mail immediately. Ruger service is top shelf and their guns tend to be bullet proof...pun intened!
