Flawless first day at the range with my new S&W M&P Pro 40 with 5" barrel. Fired 120 rounds total rapid fire with zero malfunctions (30 each factory reloads, Remington Sabre, Federal Hydro Shock and Hornady Critical Defense). Prep was normal cleaning and lube (gun grease vice oil where metal slides on metal). Very pleased with how it shoots. Bought it mainly for home defense (15 +1 magazines) but will find opportunities to go plinking with it. :D

GREAT IDPA gun. I love mine. Good luck with it. I had to change my front sight and put a shorter Dawson on it to zero it. But it is fine now. I can not imagine it as a CCW. Too big.

b4uqzme, here's a pic for you. Overall dimensions with the 5" barrel are almost exactly the same as a full sized 1911. Based on today's range session, I trust her enough to be on the night stand next to my bed. But I'll find some reason to shoot her again in a week or so. :)

BTW, I considered and test fired a Glock, but the grip is just too fat for my hands. The M&P Pro comes with three back straps to choose from. The small one shown in the picture fits me perfectly.
