Have any of you out there have any experience w/ the relatively new holster company called "Versacarry" in combination w/ a Kahr (PM9 or just in general? Several magazine ad's caught my eye so of course I went to YouTube for further information and research. (As late as it is, I have yet to take the time to perform a Google search on reviews of the product.
I love how minimalist it is and since I'm a small guy, that is an important factor for me. I also like that it's from a small start-up company and manufacturered in Texas (Note: read the guy's sob story and how he got the idea of the design and funds to develop and market the product,
Just from reading thw website (www.versacarry.com) and watching the reviews, the only downside to this holster system is the entire holster has to be completely removed to reholster the pistol. That I hate. But besides at the range or various instructional courses, in reality, how often will you be drawing and reholsering a concealed firearm. Another downside, currently there isn't a "tuckable" version available.
According to the website, its available at your local Wal-Mart (or if you live by a Gander Mntn), for $24.99+ and that doesn't seem like to big of an investment risk. Too bad Sportsman's Warehouse (Bass Pro Shops) doesn't carry it as I live 1/2 mile from one!
So, those of you who own or use this holster, what are your thoughts and is it worth it? I'm using a small IWB leather holster and would like to go w/ a slimmer, more minimalistic plastic / Kydex holster.
Thank you in advance!
Regards,
~WC~

JMHO...I don't care for the fact that one side of the trigger is open and there is no protection from sweat etc. It seems a small step better than Mexican carry. That's just me though.

X2.
Look at a hybrid holster, Leather back with a Kydex molded cover. Something that fully covers the trigger. Take a look at the Ozarks Holster http://www.ozarksholstercompany.com/

It's the same complaint I have for most of the "mic"/minimalist type holsters. It must have the trigger substantially covered on both sides along with the slide portion that is against my skin to be covered, even more so when it's hot and I'm sweating. I'd probably go with an all kydex taco style holster that accomplishes these requirements over this style.

A big deal is made in their online video (at least the one I saw on their web site) about being easy-on easy-off but I find this true of all my single clip type holsters and even more so with my clipless Remora.

Not a user of the versacarry, so I am sorry for responding. Just not for me....too gimmicky looking IMO. I find my clipless Remora to be very thin, comfortable, covers the slide/slide/sights, stays put, slides easily into whatever IWB position you want it - or pocket, removes just as easy, and is priced about the same as you are looking at with a lifetime warranty....no frills, no nonsense, everything you need in a conceal carry holster and works everyday for years.

I have one but it's cluttering up my drawer of also-rans. It works as designed, but like others I'm just not comfortable carrying with one side of the trigger exposed.
Interesting.... the trigger is not exposed on the one I have. Guess I have a different model.

Is yours the revolver model? That one looks like the trigger guard wraps around both sides. I wish they'd do that with the semi-auto models.

I do have the revolver model, but I was referring to the one I have for my PM9. The trigger's covered on the side that counts, and being a long throw DAO gun I'm not really concerned.

A huge issue with the ones I have seen is the inability to reholster w/o removing the holster from your pants, reinserting the gun into the holster and then putting it back into your pants. With that manual of arms so to speak I would never purchase one from the get go.
Gimmicky design.
Well, here's the way I look at it..... once that gun goes in there in the morning there's only one reason it should come out during the day. If I were to need it for "social" reasons reholstering it would be the last of my concerns. And yes, you can reholster it without removing it from your pants, but that would necessitate opening said pants to do so. No biggie, as look at what Superman used to do in a meager phone booth! What I do like about it is the fact that it takes up no room at all, unlike some of these gigunda IWB offerings. Sure it's "gimicky", but sometimes gimmicks actually work. Sure, I wouldn't wear it to the range, but that's not the intended use. It falls into the "to each his own" category, like most everything else in life. Now, what we should be talking about is "who makes the best gun oil/grease"! :p

They seem to have flooded the market and appear to sell well, so if there's a real-world ND problem with them, we should be hearing about it by now. You know how the web is. It's like when Glock came out, "who'd want a plastic gun?" was the question of the day.

Not exactly true. You may need to remove the weapon because of a NPE. I know of no firearms instructor(s) that advocate using two hands to re-holster the weapon, in fact the exact opposite is true. Thus my disdain for the silly idea.
As for gun lube I prefer Tetra gun lube.
Well, I will agree with you as to Tetra gun lube. It's my favorite too!

I guess I personally don't see the big problem with trigger not being covered on both sides? I use a Clip Draw on my LCP 380 and that leaves trigger exposed on both sides....so what? My pants cover it on outside and it is next to t shirt on other side; what is possibly going get into trigger? If in your pocket thats a whole different story, stuff can then get into trigger. I see no problem with Versa Carry if you are comfortable with it.

I have a couple of Remoras and they work great.
