I am looking for some advice on the problem I am having with my new PM45. It seems to now want to chamber the first round out of the magazine. instead closing on an empty chamber. I have already talked to Kahr and sent back the most troublesome magazine of the 2 that came with it. bought another new one this weekend, and it also does not like to chamber the first round. also with a full magazine in place, the slide stop does not want to engage and sometimes releases the magazine. Have been very careful not to hit the mag release when this happens. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Once you get that round in the chamber it runs real well, only 2 stoppages and both with the mag I returned. I really like shooting this gun, and bought it for summer carry, as I have other 45's but wanting this due to the size. I should get the other mag back from Kahr soon, and if it still gives problems, guess it must be something in the pistol. any suggestions? thanks, Barry

BarryinPa, have you read some of the posts here and seen whether or not you have a beveled "stripper" -- the lower leading edge of the slide just below the striker pin hole?

This is a brief post about things to look for, though I was joking with the guy, the problems encountered are real and something you can fix or have Kahr fix.

Hey, Jocko. Is Baw-anna' in hiding and still sucking on his thumb? I hope his new toy gets there soon. We've had too much fun with him... which is easy when you're not waiting for one of your heart's desires to arrive.
I have to go entertain Wifey for one more night. Duty calls.

Well I agree with Wynn, sounds like he's got one of them unbeveled strippers, not the kind with the tassles on the milk bidgets. "MY" PM45 is now scheduled to arrive here friday so maybe I be more help then. I hope I got the bevel with or without tassles.

Take a good look at Mr. Wynns' pictures that he attached and check for the little knocked off corner on the stripper on the bottom of the slide, if it's square your probably just not picking up that top round and the mag won't be the issue. You can lock the slide back, and load a full mag and see if you have a "gap" between the back of the cartridge and that stripper. If it's not there it's either a trip back to kahr or do it yourself. If it's new to you the trip might be safest, if mine isn't I don't know which I will do, I don't always do the smart thing. I might try it myself, several around here have done it.
Let us know what you find out.

I do have a question for all here. Has anyone ever asked Kahr if that bevel has to even be there???

I'm assuming that since mine came from the factory this way, that it has
been incorporated into the latest guns. Given the tight tolerances of the
.45 in such a small format frame, it would make sense.
