View Full Version : Kahr trigger problem, stuck slide

Hello everyone. I have a "problem" that may not be a problem and I was hoping that the community will be able to replicate.

When dry firing my MK9, and holding the trigger back with a moderate amount of force after the trigger breaks, I find that I have a really hard time racking the slide. It feels like the slide is stuck with the slide forward if you just pull back with the same force for racking the slide with the trigger in the forward position. I want to believe that this is the reason for my gun sometimes not chambering a round when firing. I can make a video of what I am referring to, but try these steps to see if you can replicate the problem.

1. Unload your firearm. Make sure it is unloaded.
2. Empty chamber check the gun and stick your finger in the mag well to make sure the gun is unloaded.
3. On an empty chamber, pull the trigger back until the trigger breaks and hold the trigger in the most rearward position and hold the trigger.
4. Rack the slide.

When I do this, the slide sticks in the forward position about 1-3 times out of 10. Is this normal?

I guess my point is a gun is made to function on the BANG thing, not actully what ur trying to produce. The violent action of the BANG thing makes alot of things in guns work that otherwise we might think is an issue when we hand rack slowely or do what ur doin.

If the MK9 is working fine with live ammo, then "shoot the fokker like uy stole it" Just sayin

I'll try that with the one I have at home tonight and see what it does.

Jocko, I have problems with my MK9 sometimes, but it is with 147gr ammo which I hear is hard on the micro guns, even the MK9. I had about 7 failures, 2 in a 6 round magazine, the last time I put 400 through my gun.

If you take the slide off & and look at the cocking cam on the frame as you pull the trigger back you will see the cam that pushes up to depress the striker block. Most likely the cam will come up to just above the frame rail. If so the cam is pushing up the striker block a little too far. My mk9 did that 2 years ago. If you want to look up my posts from then. Kahr fixed mine but I'm not sure if it was necessary. My mk40 didn't stick when doing what you stated that's why I had Kahr fix my mk9.

kind of problem???? feeding? ejecting? goig bang? It should shoot them OK, MY PMJ9 has nbo issu7es with 147 grain, but I don't dwell on that round alot. I just like the 125 grain gold dot and corbon power ball, but I have a few hundred rounds of 147 fmj ammo that works well. I will buy it if it is on sale for range fodder but normaly 115 does me very well, so I just stick withy it.

147 grain what???? fmj or Hollow Pt.. If u don';t trust it for defense carry, just find sumpin else. To many good defense rounds out there to worry about maybe one kind. Just sayin

I realize I'm no expert ... but nobody has mentioned or asked about the magazine. Is it in or out while you're trying to do this? I would think that might cause problems if it were in if you were trying to rack it while empty.

My mk9 slide caught with the trigger pulled & my mk40 did not. If you take the slide off and pull the trigger you will see the striker block cam go up. If it goes up past the frame rail & not even with the rail it is pushing up on the striker block a little too far thus causing a dragging on the slide that's why when you release the trigger forward the slide comes back easy. Kahr fixed my mk9 so it works as my mk40 does (smooth) but I'm not sure that the condition is a problem. I am maybe too picky with my guns.

I would like to add that all the posts on my mk9 are back about 2 years ago. Just out of curiosity my serial# is GC51XX. Just maybe yours is near the same time of production.

My serial is GC60xx. The striker block cam does go above the frame rail as you described and when I relax a little bit of pressure slide moves freely as if nothing is wrong. I may try to take a polishing stone to the cam to try and knock it down a little bit. I have a feeling it is going to be an all day project that requires a lot of TLC so I don't shave too much off. I will try to take a picture of the cam going above the frame rail.

Your pic looks the same as my mk9 was. The only reason I took notice was because my mk40 cam is not above the rail & the slide did not stick with the trigger pulled back. If your gun is under warranty it might not be a good idea to stone the cam. Going from memory I believe some Kahrs whether plastic or steel either stick or don't with the trigger pulled. Could just be an insignificant variance in production. Non-firing simulations can be misleading.

Gun is on its way back to Kahr.

I got the gun back on Jan 3rd and it no longer has the stuck slide problem. They also retuned the extractor and "reworked the slide" but the cam doesn't stick above the frame rails anymore. I was expecting my MK9 to be back around the end of January, not the beginning. Quick CS over the holidays.
