I'm looking for a OWB holster for winter carry (under a jacket) for my CW9. But I imagine this discussion would be beneficial for those with the P9/40, K9/40 and possibly other Kahr models.

My preference is for leather with active retention such as a thumb break. But would consider passive retention and other materials. Comfort is a top priority, close fit and concealment a very close second. I'd like to stay within the $100 range.

What have you actually used and liked and why?

Do you know where on your body you want to carry?? front side rear side. not sure. I find I can carry a TP40 in a front side 2:10 position in what amounts to a cross draw holster but used on the strong side. It allows me to drive sit and have access to my pistol if needed. Many smaller companies like nelson holster will build to your wants as mine was . It sets the grip parallel to my belt and was made for my cw9 but found my larger pistol works well too. It also has a flap on the inside that goes over your pants and hooks under your belt to hold it tight to my body. Pistol will not fall out. These are hand stitched and boned to fit tight for 80 bucks.

QuackXP No . Carried at a 2:10 in front side carry position. Look odd at first but works very well.

Quack, I have the Bonneville from UBG for my CM9. It rides high and tight and conceals easily. High quality holster. No thumb break but I have never felt like I needed one with this holster. I wear at around the 3 o'clock position. I am happy with it but as always ymmv. I am not sure if it fits the CW9 line. It does list the P9. Good luck!

I've made the switch from leather to kydex and the best that I have found and I've tried my fair share is from J.M Custom Kydex. Their OWB holsters are amazing, comfortable, close to the body, the ride height is perfect and I wear it, everyday!

Tony is s stand up guy and makes the perfect Kydex Holster.

quack Go look at the site I gave you and others and you will see you have lots of options. After all it is your choice. They all work for some of use. I have done the 3 to 4 o'clock thang and find with a smaller pistol I can front side a 4" barrel and hide it with the right holster.
