Will be qualifying in a couple of weeks with both 9mm and 40. In the 9mm (Kahr CW9), our agency will use the Winchester "Ranger" 9mm FMJ Nato 124 which runs about 1185 fps, military specs. Has anyone shot this ammo in the CW9 ? (Oops, I believe I was suppose to put this question under the ammo section)

I have not shot NATO spec but I have shot the following similar loads through my PM9:
Golden Saber 124gr +P 1180fps
Georgia Arms Gold Dot 124gr +P 1200fps
Winchester Ranger-T 127gr +p+ 1250fps
In the PM9 they were certainly more "stout" than Fiocchi and WWB FMJ
but not anything that was unmanageable at all. In fact I am very impressed
with the way the little polymer Kahrs can soak up recoil. Also, the high hand
hold really channels the recoil impulse rearward more than a "flip".
I imagine in the larger, heavier CW9 with the longer grip it would only be
easier to control. After a mags worth you'll forget you're shooting a +P spec.

It ought to shoot fine. I've seen the Winchester NATO 124-gr 9mm in white boxes at the two Wal-Marts I've visited recently ~$12.47 a box of 50.
I don't have a CW9, but I have both the K9 and the PM9 that I shoot 124-grain +P loads in -- Speer GDs Short Barrel +P(1150fps/3.5" bbl) and Double Tap GDs +P(~1310fps/4.5" bbl).
I think someone said that was probably comparable to shooting defense ammo.

Why would your agency qual with FMJ of any kind? Just comparable to whatever you use for duty or carry or is this the stuff you will carry? Perhaps a cost saving measure. My agency quals with FMJ whatever we can get, we try to get Speer Lawman but currently are stuck with Blazer aluminum case stuff which actually works fine, cept no reloading brass for me, but Winchester is our duty stuff. Just curious?

Thanks guys for the reply.
The Winchester "Ranger" NATO is listed for LE at higher pressures which is comparable to our carry ammo, it is also recommeded for rifles, subs. We purchase ammo and other items from CDNN (Tx) and Gulf State's Distributor (AL) at good prices. We carry CorBon in 9mm and Federal "Hydroshock" in 40 .

I've used lots of NATO ammo in practice. It is clean, accurate and reliable. Being fairly hot, it feels a lot like many defensive (expensive) rounds. If I recall the round is supposed to have a velocity of about 1232 fps from a Beretta with it's almost 5" barrel.
I've never shot any "Ranger" labeled NATO rounds, but I assume it is the same as plain white box military ammo. It's great practice ammo IMHO.
