Ballisticsbytheinch.com also has some good info.

Yeah, as I was told decades ago by someone who knew, placement, timing and situational awareness are far more important than just relying on size. :p

I was told it was more the motion of the ocean rather than the size of the paddles or oars, or outboard? Crap I can't remember now. I better get tested.

My wife told me to stay away from oars, but she has an English accent so I could be mistaken. :)
I think that this same argument could be extended to +P and +P+ ammo. I doubt seriously that the perp would notice the difference being shot with standard velocity ammunition.

Size always mattered, it always did.

Yes, but dead is dead, whether from a great sword or the slimmest dagger. :)

I like to see the test done with .45 acp. Since they're moving pretty slow already. Using some ballistic gel to see which HP bullets mushroom at slower speeds.

That's the beauty of the 45, it doesn't need to mushroom. Remember it was designed for military where hollow points are not allowed according to some foreign entity that tells us what to do.
It's already mushroomed when it leaves the barrel and only mushrooms more when it contacts the face, or center mass or where ever you normally shoot folks.

Since I'm just lustfully enamored of my MK9, I'm simply not going to worry about it's length but only about the wiggle of its worm.

It's not the size of the man in the fight, but the size of the fight in the man that matters.

Jocko, I find your new photo rather flattering. I don't know why Bawanna says that you face looks like it was hit with a flat iron. It could be your striking appearance. Just sayin.

Regardless of expansion a 45 makes a bigger hole than a 40 or 9. Shot placement is critical. I have seen 22's in the eye that dropped the turd instantly and forever. I have also seen 44 mags blow out half a lung and the turd survived handily.

Some of the stuff you write just hits my funny bone. This is one too. Not that I think you are wrong but....turd....instantly and forever.... just good stuff. You remind me of my old football coach. The stuff he would say got me cracking up which only made my life harder with him.

Well I am glad at least I can inform and tickle a funny bone or two. I don't mean to make life tougher.

Bring them all to caliber and it odd they are so close in actual diameter. Folks think of the .50 as huge while it is only 5/100's (5%) larger than the 45. The 9mm and the 10 are only 4/100's apart. The 9mm is only 4/1000" smaller than the 357.
It just doesn't seem like a lot. My gut take on it all is the driving factor (pun intended) is that it's the powder behind the caliber that gives it the "punch" (I'm on a roll).
The Barrett .50 sniper rifle cartridge that drops bad guys at a mile away is not the same as the every day .50 revolver cartridge.

Well said, and the other common denominator we often forget is no matter how large or how small they all are going to ruin your day.
Size always mattered, it always did.

I have found a $100 bill dropped in from of them trumps SIZE, TIMNG, SITUATIONAL AWARENESS. Just sayin

The 9mm kills the body, but the .45 kills the soul
