Realized I put this in the wrong forum. Sorry.

Just wanted to share my experience and hope it will help some new Kahr owners who might feel frustrated when a gun doesn't perform as expected. I really wanted this gun to work for me. Love the trigger, the simplicity, the fit in my hands (used a biclycle tire tube around the grips).

This is the second time on the range with my used PM45. Total rounds so far is only 170. Previous owner shot around 50 rounds.

My first experience wasn't that great. You name it and it happened. A couple of FTFs, FTEs, Mag drops, ejected casings to the forehead, and light striker hits all within only 30 rounds of Winchester White Box and L&B 230g FMJs.

Thanks to this website, I worked on my handling and shooting. I also gave the gun a good cleaning, including removal of the firing pin.

My second range session went much better. Shot 90 rounds comprised of FMJs and JHPs. Used the 2 factory mags. Gun serial is a low numbered SV series. Here's what happened:

3 mag drops - I'm thinking it was user error because it never happened when I was thinking about keeping my thumbs away from the mag release. Happened with both magazines.

3 FTF - Twice on the second rounds of Federal JHPs in both magazines. Didn't force them in, so round was ejected, mag was released and then loaded again. And once with the Winchester white box FMJ.

1 Ejected casing to the forehead. Not sure what to do about this.

At the end of the day I was very happy. It's not perfect, but hopefully this is just part of the break in period. To be honest, the first range session made me have second thoughts about the gun. Found this site and gave it another shot, which I'm glad I did.

Ammo used:

Winchester White Box 20 rounds
Federal RTP 40 rounds
Federal JHP 10 rounds
Federal Hydra Shok 10 rounds
Blazer Aluminum Nylon Jacket 10 rounds

my trials and tribulations with the PM45 are on here.... needless to say I was pretty upset after dropping $800 on this gun and the problems I had.

cracked magazine bodies were taken care of with new ones free of charge from Kahr, slide stop spring replaced by me, honing is what I call it when you do a "fluff n' buff" as a member on here has depicted on a sticky.... after about 500 rounds mine runs as it should have in the beginning.

regarding the magazine dropping out, shoot it left handed, if this doesn't happen then it is it you pushing the mag release with your thumb somehow. this cant happen shooting left handed so its a quick trial and error test.

I still carry my PM45 once in a while because I like the .45acp round, but its on the selling block because it has lost its charm. I still use my PM9 regularly because it is considerably smaller in my view and has been 100% from the beginning. the only thing I've changed about the PM9 is a new metal mag catch and adding a polymer mag base in place of the steel one.

I encourage you to look at the stickies on here regarding prepping your PM45 before you fire any more ammo.
