Fresh out of the box CM9, picked her up tonight. Went straight to the range. Shot 100 rounds flawlessly. Would of shot more but I got there late. I remembered to push that last round to the back of the magazine. I did spray her out with some silicone spray just before I shot her. Only complaint I can give is that the magazine is very tight in the grip and doesn't fall out when you release it. I imagine that will loosen up after awhile. Didn't kick as much as I was expecting for such a light gun. I did start to feel the grip in my palm after about 50 rounds. I think it was the way I was holding it. I might have to swap the sights out, with my bad eyes, if I wear my reading glasses I can see them fine and line them up and shoot pretty well with it. If I don't, the sights are blurry but the target is clear, but I don't shoot as well. Mostly low when I shoot that way. I wonder if those big dot sights would help me? I was using Federal 115 gr FMJ rounds, no hiccups or anything. I'm very happy so far. They did have 7 round magazines there so I bought one while I was at the range, didn't get a chance to use it. If I line the sights up, take my time, this gun is as accurate as everyone boasts. Trigger works well for me. Just have to work on the sights when I don't have my reading glasses on, which would probably be the time when I really have to need it. Thanks to everyone here with all their great advice. I tried to remember as much as possible and follow your instructions. Everything went very smoothly because of it. Can't wait to go shoot it again.

get some snap caps, letsomeone load ur magazine for you so u don;'t know if u have one or 4 snap caps in the gun. It will show ur shooting error real fast. the lows are IMO shooting errors, Ur anticipating the BANG thing. Snap caps will prove it. Nice report, Try POA shooting at 7 yards, this is a defense gun, ur not gonna see any sights if you have a SHTF situation. The front sight is ur friend, concentrate on it but POA shooting u still see the front sight but it is faster. Keep um in a 6" pattern at 7 yards and be very happy. the gun will smooth out even better with more rounds. Try waxing the outside of your magazine to see if it drops easily. Mine never drops and I like it that way.

jocko, Thanks for the advice. I wasn't sure if it was a flaw or not about the magazine. I think in a dangerous situation, and IF I had a spare mag on me, I'd want the empty to fall out and I can slam the new one in. I did do some dry fires and yes I did catch myself anticipating the shot. I think when I get more trigger time on this, I should get better with it. I will try your suggestion the next time I go to the range and concentrate on the front sight more. I was trying to line up the sight picture, without my glasses that isn't that easy.

A couple things I wanted to mention. My guide pin has two springs on it, not the single spring like in the take down video, and the slide has 3 dimples stamped inside. The spring for the slide release looks slightly different too, it doesn't protrude into the opening like the ones I've seen in the pictures. I guess it's an evolution of sorts, worked great for me.

aresome magazinefixes statedinthis forum for thouse who demand the magazinefallwhen tolldto.U can try um urselfor just sendthe magazineb acktokahr and hope you getone thatdrops to please u. Waxing it may not helpeither but it canhurt either. I think we tendto watchtomany movies of this magazinedropo stuff and ultra fast reloads. In real life situation I would doubt if that is even needed. But again u can work with it to get ur magazine nowtofall or just keep sending themagsback until u getone that does. Itis not thegun itself. Not alot of freedomin that magwell, AndIfI recallin theowners manual it kinda statesto pull the magazine out of the gun.

Jocko, The magazine pops out about 1" when I hit the release button, rather nicely. It then just sticks. This is not a deal breaker for me, just something I think I'd prefer. I don't mind working on it myself. Like I said, not a deal breaker. Hopefully, I'll never have to worry about ever using a second clip, fight should be over by then.

mine does exactly the same thing. IMO hereis the p.lus part for me anyhow, ustand much better cvhance of hitting the agrelease button in a SYHTFsituation than most anything else,at leastit is not gonna go tumbling to the ground,or fror meanyhhow as I am a lazy bastard to, for rangeuse, I am not icking up a dirty magazine off the ground either. Some demand what u wat, and it can be done. Many kahgrs work that way ouyt of the box, when they don't it is always mag related, not the frame part, there are some "squeezing" tips on thos forum and howto do um and I amsure one of the guys will come alongwith thatthread, as I know not where that thread is either.
Hope the 7 round mag works OK for u, Many report the extended magsin these smallass guns give issues. IMO u would have been much better wit anuttrr flush fit magazine, but that is just me.
The 7 round mag due to is longer length will give u a different feel of the gun over the 6 round flush, so for metrain the way u wantto fight if needed. This ain't a target gun. train 7 yards and under, get fast with some kind of POA technique, forget about lining up any sights and the target, ain'tgonna happen in a SHTF situtation. Just sayin:Amflag2:

The mag fix is simple.
I did the following on both my magazines and they now drop free.
All you need is some pliers or a vise.
Remove the follower and spring.
At the top of the magazine, slightly force the feed lips closer together.
What you want to do is very slightly narrow the magazine at the feed lips.
It won't take much at all and the mag will drop free.
If you have a micrometer, you can measure the mag feed lips first to have a reference.
Either way, it is a VERY simple fix.
Assemble the mag, make sure it falls and confirm that the follower is sill easy to depress.
There are a few videos on you-tube describing this.
One guy uses a small hammer.
I'd recommend pliers or vise.

MBSL500, Thanks for the suggestion. If the magazine is full of ammo, it will drop out of the pistol. However, if it is empty it will hang about 1" below the release point. I figured it will probably wear down after I used it enough. I will look up those videos on Youtube and check them.
Getsome, I'm very happy with this pistol. It exceeded my expectations. I will take it back out soon to continue breaking it in. Jocko makes perfect sense to me.
Jocko, Thanks once again for your help. Your exactly right. I need to train for the SHTF situation and learn how to aim it very quickly for center mass.

Sounds like you got a good one... That's great!
My two mags drop (or not), after years now, just as your new ones.
With regards to close distance SD shooting I also value threat focused point shooting more than front sight focused sight alignment.

DanTana,
I too need reading glasses to see the sights clearly. I've become used to a blurry target, no problem. Seems better than blurry sights. Now I even shoot trap and skeet with my glasses on.
Enjoy your new pistol.

I have had some Kahrs that the mags would stick. I polished the heck out of them and finally got them to drop free. My latest also a CM9 drops free and easy. I prefer them to drop. Glad you like your new Kahr, it is a great little pistol with lots of +s.

I polish my mags as well. Makes them slide out much smoother and look better, too.

Glad you have had good results with your CM9. Mine is relatively new and has about 250 flawless rounds through it.
The magazine that came with the pistol will not drop free. I bought a factory Kahr magazine online and it drops free.

I began using red dot sights on some of my pistols and I can see them perfectly along with the target. It is just not practical for a red dot on a carry pistol.
B4ugzme, I don't know how you can shoot trap if your eyes are like mine. I would think the target too blurry to get a good shot on it. I used to shoot trap myself when I was much younger.
Jocko, Maybe I should say I "understand" you? Even that might be incriminating :)
