If anybody out there has more .380 ammo than they need, let me know. For some reason Connecticut is not on the map when it comes to ammo distribution. .380 is available, but it's still hit or miss, and there's a 2 box limit when it is available ... and I don't live near where the ammo is ... when it is. So I'm looking to buy or to trade for 9mm, which I have plenty of.

You can never have 'plenty', that's a myth. Unless you are parking in the driveway b/c your garage is full of ammo. THEN you have 'plenty'.

I see it here all the time at Walmart. Have you used ammo-can.net? It only shows 50 round boxes of WWB but I see the 100 round boxes a lot.

Keep an eye on SGAmmo.
When they have it there's generally not a small limit.

Also, don't know if you're a JHP guy or not, but this guy has done some extensive testing.
He found that Precision One met his standards.

What all of the testing proves is that these bullets work well on ballistic gel blocks protected by 4 layers of denim. I want to know how well they work on criminals. FMJ's always give you enough penetration and when they hit bone most tumble and make very large wound channels.

Agreed a lot of factors and unknowns in the world of short barrel guns and self defense against BG's who may or may not be on drugs weigh 250 pounds and dressed in denim and down ,but if we have penetration and expansion both that is better.

Hi Rev, I see you found your 380 ammo. Have you considered getting into reloading yet? Very enjoyable hobby.

The risk of overpenetration is greatly exaggerated, in my opinion. The fact is, if you ever fire your gun in self defense, you will almost certainly miss your intended target more than you will hit it. LE officer hit rate is something like 30%, give or take, and these people do this stuff for a living.

For certain cartridges like .380, I don't think FMJ for a carry ammo is a terrible choice at all. It's not my first choice, but if that is all you have, then by all means use it.
