I'm alittle dissapointd in myself and u forum members for not mentioning what those nasty rocksucker japs did on this day. Pearl should never be forgotten:amflag::amflag::amflag:

I readtoday where we are loosing over 600 WWII veterans A DAY.

May God bless those who back then gave all, and to those who lived and bore the agony of so many American deaths:amflag:

Agreed on that Jocko. It should never be forgotten and it's up to the follow-on generation to remind the youngins about the sacrifices made by our parents.

That would be a good response also to HRC"s "What difference does it make now anyway."

Shouldn't someone have slid that page of history under Osama's nose before 911??
You get one really good lick, then get your a$$ kicked all the way back to the stone age...

The 7th is also the anniversary of losing my baby sister to an aneurism on that morning in 2000. She was awarded Police Dispatcher of the year the prior summer.

To all the good ones the world has lost on this day, my thanks and my promise to always protect and cherish the country they served.

I asked more than a few folks today what was significant about today's date.

Happy to say only one person, very early 20's, didn't have a clue.

A necessary read for those who do care....."Those Angry Days"

For many/most of us WWII history began with Pearl Harbor. The politics of the preceding years are at least as historically important and emphasize the as unprepared for war as we were incredible united commitment and effort of America when it all went down.

I will never forget that asinine response from her, "the most revered woman in the world".

We buried my mother on pearl harbor day 2000. This day holds double significance for me.

It's good to remember the fallen, but good men on both sides fell. There is no glory in war. There is only death and destruction. War is hell. One day every mother's son will die. It's how you live that is important.

All of us are dying Jocko. We were all born to die. The Japanese people mourn their war dead just as we mourn ours. I was very pleased by the outcome of the war even though it ended before I was born. I would have preferred it if the war could have been avoided, but unfortunately it wasn't. If you ever visit the Arizona you'll find that many Japanese visit the memorial as well. I don't harbor any hard feelings toward anyone except for those who are trying to take our freedom from us today.

We didn't forget that day. That was the first thing jlottmc said was that it was Pearl Harbor Day when I was in labor for 12 hrs with our baby girl, who was born at 5:15 pm that day...She's 6 now...

Although I was born some 10 years after the war ended, I still feel some ill will towards the Japanese, mostly for their barbaric actions. What kind of people would get pleasure out of throwing Chinese babies up in the air and catching them on their bayonets? I bet the Chinese never forget or forgive the Rape of Nanking.
Plus their horrendous treatment of POW's. Whom they considered subhuman for surrendering instead of fighting to the death as was their way. To this day I refuse to buy a Japanese car, since those companies built tanks and airplanes and other war machinery. I have owned some Japanese bikes, and still have 2 of them, a Suzuki dirt/street bike, and a 95 750 Virago. The Suckzuki is a gutless wonder, 125cc 4 stroke, that will barely run 50 mph. The Virago has been a decent bike though. Went right over Monarch pass about 11,500 feet without skipping a beat. I bought it while I was having my HD motor rebuilt at the factory and needed a bike for a run to the Colorado western slopes. I do have to admit, the mountains were a bit more fun on the Virago than my Heritage Classic. No floorboards to scrape.
