So after swearing I wouldn't buy another pistol until I bought 9mm carbine I was talking to a guy I know and he said he wants to sell his 357mag Ladies Smith. It is stainless steel with the rosewood grips and it's about 2 years old. I have actually shot it a few times at the range when went together and liked it.

I ran into him at the gun store and he was talking about trading it in on a Windham. The gun store was going to give him $400 trade in and put $550 on it. He said I could have it for trade value if I wanted it. I have until Sunday to decide.

What do you guys think buy or don't buy? He paid $750 for it 1.5 years ago and probably has less than 400 rounds through it. I love the look/feel and would put the condition at 95% or better........

This is not the gun but is the same model as the one I am talking about

only thing i CAN SAY BAD ABOUT THAT GUN IS THAT it is not mine. Nice gun through and throuh. I would shoot 38spl in it if it was mine. I would think 357 would punish you in a bad way. Price seems overly fair to.

Had one a few years back and i really liked it. Wish i never sold it. I admit though i never shot magnums through it, only specials. Price seems good too. BUY IT.

The Model 65 Ladysmith is a fantastic gun. With the three inch barrel it has a full length ejector rod so it will kick out full length cases easily.

Whoops, looked at the pic again, that's a J frame, but still grab it!

I'd have to sand off the Lady Smith words and stencil Mad Dog Face Shooter on it but other than that I agree super great guns.

Ok so I just spent the last hour researching the 60LS and it seems like a pretty decent deal. I have never been much of a revolver guy but have liked the looks of this one ever since I first saw it. I texted him and he said he has the original box and a holster for it. I told him I have the cash so we will either be meeting Friday night or Sunday night. Here's to hoping he doesnt change his mind. This will be my first revolver.

Just so you know, you all are no help at all......... You were supposed to talk me out of this one, you know be the voice of reason saying you really don't need this. lol. At least I know if I wanted to get rid of it I can trade it in for what I paid.

I've always really liked the bead blast finish of the Lady Smith revolvers. Some of us are secure enough in our manhood to not freak out over labels. Just sayin' :spider:

If I could out bid you there I'd be tempted to go as high as $500 on that one, and I wouldn't care if the logo said "Suzie Smith"

Dang! I have no special love or use for a revolver... but $400... I would'a had it already! I could resell it!

Back in the 70's I always wanted a model 60. I had an 18, 19, 66, 63, 629 and others, but the 60 was an elusive one, and not cheap. I've had a bunch of S&W semi-autos, too, but the model 60 was really special. I guess my first wife would have gotten it... got her a Charter Arms, which she didn't hang onto. I pointed her at a Taurus snubbie when she felt the need for a defensive pistol about a decade ago. We're good friends... family.

look good on that gun, and don';t go buying any ,asI have a set of mint T!tty Pink grips that the colonel refinished for me. They wouldlook gopod on a gun that says Lady Smith. These grips are even signed by the colonel on the backside, thats how fokking proud he was of these grips. When I sent them to him (the colonel) they were of genuinbe walnut that I had spilled some Hoppe's #9 and bubbled up the finish. Herretts grips by the way.
Now I call them Mrs. Herretts grips. Just sayin:amflag:

Thats a nice revolver at a great price and I think the LS came out before the trigger locks were added to Smith's but I may be wrong there....I seem to remember they also had factory trigger jobs to have a better, easier pull for female shooters....That and the fact that the Lady Smiths are sort of rare makes it even more valuable as a collector...Good deal on that one, do it!!!....

My wife loves her 642 Lady Smith. The J frames seem to be good guns. Hornady Critical Defense and Federal Hydrashok are both fine rounds in .357. Both are low recoil.

I personally prefer pre-lock S&W guns (I've got four).
But If you've shot it and like it? Get it!

I realize most want the pre lock but has anyone ver readof the lock systemin Smiths interferring with anything. It can to my knowledge actualy be take out of the gun and then back in if ne wants it. Some years back when I retired out ofmy business and broght homewith me a half dozen J frames, all pre lock. Held them here a few years and decidedone day sell them. I sold every one in a week and every person would ask if it was a pre lock, they were all new in box and I realize now I sold them to cheap. Just sayin

Pretty sure this one doesn't have a lock....... I have the cash in my wallet and we are supposed to meet up on Friday night. If I pick it up on Friday I'm hoping to put a few rounds through it on Saturday.

Man Jocko, You are really making me want to go find some pretty pink grips for this thing. You got an extra set laying around? :p

I've got a S&W M&P 65-3 3" heavy barrel 357 K Frame that's a tack driver.
It's a hand full with full powered magnums.
But sweet with mid range Remington Golden Sabers.
And a Kitty Cat with 38 specials.

The thing about a three inch 357 is -

125 gr full power 357 Magnum
4" ~1450 fps
3" ~1300 fps (-150)
2" ~1200 fps (-250)

But 125 gr Remington Golden Saber 357 Magnum
4" ~1220 fps
3" ~1190 fps (-30)
2" ~1100 fps (-120)

IMHO - The 3" barrel is the sweet spot for that round.
And the Sabers have much less felt recoil for me.
That's what I run in my all stainless K Frame and 640-1 2.125" J Frame.
