I recently bought a used CM9, took it home, broke it down completely, cleaned and re-lubed. I took it to the range yesterday and it shot flawlessly using four different mags, shooting S&B 124gr. FMJ, 124gr. +P HST, PDX-1 124gr. +P, Gold Dot 147gr. and 115gr. Remington generic HP ammo. First I loaded one in the pipe plus full mag and all 7 of my first shots where in the x-ring or the next outer circle at 15 yards.

I feel that the 147gr. Gold Dots were the most accurate and will carry it with them. Anyone else carry that ammo or weight in the CM9 and do you know of any velocity tests from it?

There's little recoil although after the 5th magazine the back strap really dug into me, but it's a pocket pistol and I still shot 100rds. total without any problem. The triggers on these are described as long, but it never felt like that nor did the reset, plus it's smooth and light. It's replaced my BG380 as my pocket carry option for sure.

Who ever had it before me put an idiot scratch on it when reassembling it, but it was in perfect condition inside and out otherwise.

I replaced my BG380 with an MK9...............the accuracy of the BG left a lot to be desired................I don't worry too much about velocity tests........for what I am using the firearm for, the distance that would be involved, pretty much anything I use would get the job done. I use HST's 147 gr..........I like a lot of lead.

Welcome - glad you had a good first run with it.

I use the 147gr Ranger-Ts in my cm9 - it likes them fine.

For the grip a quick and cheap thing to try is take a bicycle inner tube and cut it to fit the grip as you like then turn it inside out to hide the seams on the inside and pull it over the grip. That will take some of the bite out those nubs. I am pretty sure a search of the website will give you some additional results on it.

That's the thing. Most people say it's a long pull, but to me its not really long, it's extremely smooth and light. My opinion of a long trigger pull is a Beretta 92D even though it's smooth or a DAO revolver. I have plenty of firearms with short pulls and was surprised at the DAO trigger on the CM9 when I first pulled it in the store.

I really don't care for grip sleeves, especially anything that could catch in the pocket. I shot 5 mags/30 rounds before I even felt the backstrap and it didn't get any worse. It was easy to keep a firm hold on it throughout the entire time shooting it. In a defensive scenario, going through 5 mags means I'm in big trouble.

I feel no need for any help in the grip dept. I have an MK and the grip is no problem. I'll shoot a couple hundred rds. and I have no problem with any hand problems, but I think that I have the perfect size hands for a Kahr. Maybe you have found your perfect firearm? It is nice to find a firearm, shoot it, love it, and have no problems.................I used to own and carry a BG........sold it, and that's how I got introduced to Kahr. Nothing like the trigger out there anywhere. The difference in accuracy between the 2 is short of amazing.........................................ht tp://kahrtalk.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

right but a kahr is 3/8" travel, comparedto aglock which is far less. I would venture to say that most people before they ever get akahr haveprobalby ad a glock or sumpin with a shorter trigger pull, or at least that seems to be the gun that most shooterts here try to compare their kahrs to, which IMO is not fair toeither gun makers.

I'm a fan of the 147 Gr. Gold Dot and my CM9 likes them, too. Goes through 'em like a kid eatin' jelly beans. I haven't found a round that the CM9 doesn't like. It's a great little gun.

Your CM9 should make a great pocket pistol.

2 words...Talon Grips. Love them! Black Rubber is the grip style that I like.

True. I have/had Glocks, 1911s, Berettas, XD/M/S, M&Ps, etc, but I still think the Kahr trigger pull is surprisingly short and light.

On the frame right below the slide stop. You'll see those on 1911s when people sweep the slide stop upwards when putting everything back together which causes the mark.

Here's one where they felt a complete rotation was necessary.]

Thanks for idea, but I've never bee a fan of grip enhancement like that either. If I can get a good grip on a gun that stays stable in my hand through an entire magazine, it's GTG. The CM9 is like that and only dug into my hand after 30 rounds, then it stayed that way until I was through. If a gun needs a sleeve or grip tape, it's not for me.

I've owned plenty of small firearms where your pinky needs to curl underneath and the top 4 with little recoil IMO is the G26, XDS, Shield and now the CM9. Out of all of those, only the CM9 can do pocket duty for me. I had a Kimber Solo which is super small, but that thing was a handful to hold on to when firing, especially since I had the standard non-checkered version.

For most grip enhancements that I need I use a rubbery stair step tape and make my own. My roll of tape is big enough to last my life time and cost me nada!!

Most people that cry about a Kahr trigger have never learned to shoot a double action revolver. Some of them don' even know what a revolver is!

Just my .25 cents worth!! No charge! Ya get what ya pay for!!!!!

I started using hornady critical duty 135 grain +p in my CM9. I'm happy so far. I installed a hogue grip because the "cheese grater" grip was a bit to much for me. Soft I guess.

I use Federal HST 124gr, Speer Gold Dot 124gr or Remington Golden Sabers 124gr which ever is available. All work really well

I like the Hogue grip sleeve, but the Talon grips are also very good.

I have a pm 9 and I installed the same talon grips as TORMENT mentioned. They work great and I've had them on for two years and there is no sign of wear!

I run Federal HST 124 through my pm 9, but it will eat anything I feed it.

If you unload your Kahr my least favorite way (take the bullets our rather than shoot them) in order to get some range time on the gun keep an eye on your self defense rounds. If you repeatedly load the same round you may chew up the nose and worse yet you could get bullet set back, which can raise the pressure of the round. You probably know all of that but I thought I would mention it anyway.

Welcome to the forum!

I always check every single round for set back that I manually take out of a chamber no matter what firearm it is. The CM9 will stay loaded until I hit the range for sure.

I really like my 124gr. HST +Ps, but I have a decent amount of Gold Dot 147gr. not being used, so it's kind of a good thing that it works best in the CM9.

Now THAT is the way it's done boys and girls. Buy a pile of ammo then go find a gun to run it with. I like the way the man thinks!

Seriously. I used to run 147 PDX1 in all my 9s for carry. I've since moved to the 135gr Critical Duty. Shoots a bit softer, seemingly (but only slightly) better test results out there. No flies on the 147 though, in the PDX1 or the GD.

My CM9 has a crimson trace and some Talon grips, carry Hornaday Critical Duty, but have box of Fiochhi that also runs fine! Still have a magazine release problem? Should I work on the magazine or the inside of the release button??

Just a guess but I'm betting the problem lies with the mag release. Remove the slide and insert a mag to find out what is going on.

There needs to be clearance for the front of the mag where is interfaces with the release. Proper clearance allows the mag to insert/drop with no friction. If you remove metal here, do it slowly and with frequent mag checks. Use fine grit automotive paper wrapped around a file to finish your work. Use layout fluid or a magic marker on the front of the mag to reveal contact points.

The portion of the release that locks into the mag needs to be totally burr free. It's very easy to remove too much metal from that 'shelf' so 'polish' means just that. A tiny little burr or tool mark can make the release feel 'catchy'. Don't remove metal, just polish it. If you remove too much metal from the shelf, the mag will drop out when the pistol recoils.
