View Full Version : do gun brands match owners personalities?

I just wonder if certain brands of guns match the personalities of the owners.

I participate in 3 gun forums and they couldnt be any more different. This forum seems to be more genteel and positive (which i am sure the moderators work their butts off making it so). The XD forum has more poking back and forth with some mod intervention. It is a really good forum. Then there is the good old glock forum. Is it just me or is a glock person (myself included) just a more aggressive and confrontational person? It is a good forum and the mods are doing a great job taming it down, but, man, there are some really confrontational people there. I must disclose that I have had a post or two removed myself after being attacked myself.

I wont even go into the prepper forum that i participate in

I quit visiting Gloque Talque a loooong time ago. For those reasons. Bersa chat is very genteel and positive, and the Ruger forum (dot net) is pretty nice. The 1911 forum I occasionally visit (the stormy grey colored one) can get pretty intense, like they're all grizzled old army sergeants and I'm a buck private or something.

I think it's a pschcosis of Glock owners compensating for having to go through life with such an ugly gun. I have one, I don't love or hate them. They are an excellent argument for concealed carry. Sort of like me wearing a paper sack over my head when I drive a Ford, no need to advertise that I stoop that low ya know.

I visited the Glock forum once and I couldn't get out fast enough, I was scared.

Never looked at the others.

We just have a good class of folks here regardless of what brand of gun they carry. Civility and respect go a long long way round these parts.

I have a model60 engraved that is beautiful. It matches its owner perfectly.the gun has alot of class and iconic history, again just like its owner. Just sayin
Some people should wear a bag over their head IMO, they need not own a Ford either. Pegosie, Einstein, Pigschelle, Pillary comes to mind..

This forum is much like General Von Stuben's Cocktail Lounge and Grill. You can meet anyone in here from a brain surgeon to a skid row bum. (No offense intended, Bawanna.) Most of us are graduates of Jocko's Charm School and are schooled in proper etiquette. Rarely do things get out of hand. That why I frequent this MB. It's my home away from home.

"Don't look now, but this room is full of red necks".

I resemble that remark sir....I am a Proud Redneck, I was Redneck Born, Redneck Bred and when I die I'll be Redneck Dead....

I agree with the Colonel that Glock owners secretly hate that their prize pistols look like a cheap kids toys and are jealous when they see owners of fine looking 1911 pistols or beautiful blued S&W and Colt revolvers so they are forced to act like God invented Glocks and gave the first one to Moses to part the Red Sea with....

I sometimes visit the S&W forum and they seem to be ok over there but don't ever say ANYTHING that might cross the old salts opinion on something or they will be mighty quick to spit you out like a bad taste....

I love my Kahr pistol and I think this is the best gun forum on the interweb because of having GREAT mods and very nice respectful members (except for Jocko) that love Kahr handguns and like to talk and learn about them as well as jaw and joke about other stuff in general....This is by far and away the BEST BAR in town!!!

It is very true. My latest acquisition is very much my personality:

CZ P-02 with omega trigger system.

I was sold on the idea of being able to change out the safety and decocker with the DA/SA w/safety or DA/SA w/decocker. I like that it has removable grip panels so I have choices. In all, the gun fits my hand perfectly, it has dozens of different options, and I can work on the gun myself. It is all kinds of win and the mags are cheap.

tl;dr I like options and the P-02 gives me lots of different options.

I don't know how to answer that question.

I personally own - Kahr, Glock, Sig Sauer, Heckler and Koch, Smith and Wesson, Arsenal AD (Bulgarian: Арсенал АД) and Mossberg.
What does that say about me?

As for gun forums?
I'm a member of KahrTalk, GlockTalk, HKPro and AKFiles.
Each seem somewhat unique in membership population and moderators.

Early on I had to invoke Troll Control (The Ignore List).
But it's really a small part of the population the requires filtering.

Sounds like you might have multiple personality syndrome.

Do you have little people in your head telling you what to do and sometimes bossing you around and stuff.

If you do, how do you get the little bastards to shut the heck up?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The little people you speak of weren't in my head.
They were in my bed.
I got both of them to shut the heck up by divorcing them.

I bought a POS Diamondback DB9, and had some troubles with it and joined the Diamondback forum. The moderator does not take kindly to people that have problems and are trying to solve them. It's like you spit in his eye or something.
I also visit the Dan Wesson forum from time to time, but had a run in with a moderator, and he was a real jackass. I got several PM's from other members wondering what bug had crawled up the mod's butt.

No voices except internal dialogue. The Glock thing was sticking with one instead of constantly trading in and out every few years for the next bestest thing on the market. You know, younger and blond things.

I'm not what one would call "brand loyal". I kind of like certain types of firearms from certain manufactures, but nothing is ever written in stone. I tend to do a bit of research before most purchases, though some fall into the "I GOTTA HAVE IT!!!" category. Think Tommy gun for that one.

Not sure what that says about my personality but I do own many more American firearms than foreign made. Not that I have anything against most foreign companies as they have been making firearms longer than the US has been a country.

I can say I prefer most of my firearms with wood and blued steel. There are exceptions, of course. K40 comes to mind.

As far as forums go, this is the only gun forum I participate in. The others I only read up on to learn or research whatever specific firearm I have a question about at the moment. As far as that goes, I only participate in a hand full of forums as most I've found are more of a PITA than to join in on.

THIS PLACE is one of the few forums I truly enjoy. Heck, I can even decipher what ol' Jocko posts up!

My current stable includes:

Glock
S&W
Keltec
Remington
Mossberg
Daniel Defense
Armalite
Palmetto State Armory

They are mostly black, plastic, and beautiful! I have one FDE Glock and one multicam rifle. Maybe I am stealthy and tactical...I don't know. Anyway, I spend most of my time in a Facebook gun group that I am a co-admin in. If anyone wants to check it out it is called So many guns so little time.
