I have wanted to build a AR since I sold my m&p sport.

Finally got around to it. Aero precision lower and upper, rra nm trigger group, basic lpk, blackhawk grip, del ton basic m4 stock kit with H buffer , psa m16 mil spec bcg, criterion 16"mid length 223 wylde chrome barrel & a2 flash hider , rra tro fft and gas block and on old redfield scope for now. raining so no range time but fire 10rounds out back to see if it works and suprize , it does. Even had no parts left over when done. Still have to decide on folding sights and a final scope choice. Leaning toward a 2.5-10

Very Nice! One of these days I'm going to try that. I have mine scoped with a Nikon P223 and really like it but I wouldn't mind a nice red dot in the future..

Nice rifle. I just finished a spikes lower build and upgraded the trigger in my colt while I was at it. I'm looking at scopes right now as well since I've already decided on an upper. I am leaning towards a 2-7x35 in the $200-$250 range. Not planning on spending too much on glass since this one will just be a range toy.

Go to Midway USA and get a Leupold Rifleman 3-9 for $200 or 4-12 for $249 and you will like them. Free shipping at this time I believe. I have 2 different 3-9 (each on an AR) and I just ordered a 4-12 that has arrived but no rings yet. They should arrive Monday.

What is the weight on that AR you built including the scope (but without Bipod.) Just Curious.

Nice job of it!

Folding sights - folks get all gaga for Troy and other metallic folding setups, but there is more than one destructive test out there on the net that shows the venerable MagPul polymer sights to hold up better than the aluminum ones. Drop test from waist level pretty much destroyed the Troy's, only superficial scratches on the MagPul. And the MP is cheaper.

I don't like my MagPul rear. It was sort of iffy when new and I had to rework it a bit to get the unlock to unlock reliably, without having to beat the lever to flip it up. I don't like their sqared top aperture - which presents a weird ring image when used. But, after the drop test and beat-em-up tests I saw, I got another rear for the AR pistol thats going together (to eventually be an SBR).

I've got some aluminum folders on my 10/22 bull target rifle. They're more precise, and well made, but... I know they wont take the abuse the MP's will. I'll leave precise for target use, and leave durable on the potential SHTF rifle.

Thanks for good words guys. I had the plastic magpulls on a M&P I had and they worked but I wood like something else. Gota set down and start looking. As bad as my normal open site vision is a barn would probably be safe. Try'n to be dollar wise does play games with what scope to buy. My first rifle scope was a 2.5-10 and still to this day prefer a 4X power change. Going out to try to do some bartering at a local shop.

Nice job on the build. I just did my first AR build this year and enjoy it a lot.

Well I bought a scope. Not what I was looking for but the few 2.5-10's I found were 50MM lens, just to big . Now NO laughing !!
I bought a china made weaver 1.5-6 kaspa-z with a 30mm body. Got a damd zombe marks on the side of it. Glad there not very noticeable. I like the z-cert reticle used. It comes with snap caps and has 80" of adjustment at 100yards then with a life time warrenty. So I gota take a chance for the 168 dollars it cost me at my local general store.

Well It's nwt complete and picked up a couple extra box's of m193 to try out. Got to get my rear to the range tomorrow and see how it shots.

+1 on the Magpul MBUS, but you say you want something else, then I'd go Troy.

I am a died in the wool EOtech fan myself for RDS's. Mine has the three BDC dots so it can be used out to 600m with a magnifier. I like it a lot and the extra dots are not distracting at all. It's the EXPS3-4

Pleased with my rifle after a range trip. Sun was in my eyes when there and I was the only one there so I shot across the range and could only shoot to 82 yards. I think I can see the potential is there with a and a bit lighter trigger pull and a larger aiming dot . Group was 10 shots and measured .80 x 1.12".
