Just stopped at my friends auto parts store today I knew he just picked up this Kimber carry 9mm but he wasn’t sure how to take the slide apart for cleaning told I would do it for him his done me a lot of favors. Get it home a little research and got it apart it’s a tricky little thing not bad but got to be careful some apart shots and finished the I got thinking so I got my CM9 out to compare size and weight and they were only 1/8 oz apart. Trigger feel pretty nice lighter pull than the CM9 I think its good it does have a safety on it over all I liked the feel of it. In the fifth photo look close my CM9 is under the Kimber One other thing I put in as the last photo you will see something on the back strap of the CM9 I was playing around with this last year never posted it but I noticed when ever I would go to pull the CM9 from the holster the web of my had always got locked where ever my hand hit the back strap was to aggressive so not wanting to do anything permanent I try a piece of scotch tape it worked great the web of my hand slid right in to place so I just left it once in awhile replace it. Try it I think you will like it :)

I checked one of those out in the store once, nice little gun. Trigger is a nice compromise between a long double action and a shorter reset, IIRC.

I believe I read a review on these in Guns and Ammo, it gave it a good review and was very accurate. I also heard of many reliability issues with them. Hopefully your friend doesn't have any problems with his.

I have only heard of ammo reliability. They are finicky.

It is a nice looking gun but they have had their share of the small semi auto blues it seems.....Biggest problem seems to be that they won't work with anything other than +p rated ammo and if anything other than spendy premo carry ammo is tried it jams with everything so practice becomes expensive in a hurry....They also had a recall because some of them would fire with the safety on....
If you google Kimber Solo Problems you will see that many found out the hard way they should have saved some money and bought a Kahr....

I thought about getting one when they first came out.
Even though it's technically a striker gun - it's like 90% pre-cocked.
My understanding is that it's much preferred to used the safety for pocket carry.
And treat it like a mini 1911.
That was a deal breaker for me.
I've also read of ammo sensitivity.
And some teething pains with the early models.
Decided on a Kahr MK40 Elite instead.
Hope the little Kimber works out.

what Barth and getsome staed are true. It looks like a ice gun but kimber will even tell u it is single action. If ur gonna carry it, u best have the safety on. No way would I put that gun in my pocket. I know at first they said +P ammo for reliability, I would like to think they have figured that out by now, Kiinda kills a range gun at that kind of expense IMO.

They have experienced the same problems with the Kimber that some have experienced with Kahr pistols. Slides peening, slides locking back with rounds in the magazine, light strikes, failures to feed, etc. No one is immune.

That little solo looks like it can be slippery! That grip is too smooth for my liking. I have heard that the first few off the line were a mess. but just like all guns, they correct them after they have experience in the market for a little while.
Overly complex design by Kimber. They failed to channel JMB .....

I am a Kimber fan and the Solo is a very nice looking gun. The ones that show up at our range have generally been very ammo sensitive.
I know the same thing has been said about Kahrs, but just last Saturday I fired two mags of range floor pickups, with no two being the same brand, through my PM9 into a 6" sheet of paper at 30' as fast as I could pull the trigger. That little gun just flat out shoots.
