Desiree and I want to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We should have been in SW Colorado by now with Wifey's parents, but a last minute check on the van(Tuesday 17th) showed burned transmission fluid and transmission needed replacing. After getting the part and starting repair, there was metal coming out of the transfer case... probably the reason for the transmission problem. Anyhow, repairs are under way and we hope to be able to get to SW CO in time for MIL's 80th BD party. I just hope that we can still drive and not have to fly!

So here I sit at my PC looking out over the river... watching the lone buzzard waft about between us and the river... joined finally by a few Osprey looking for meals. The temperature is in the mid 50's after 80+ weather the last few days... sunny with clouds for now.

The duck is in the fridge and nearly thawed for tomorrow's meal. I'm listening to Christmas music and Des' is tending the wash... usually one of my many chores. :D Willie's singing "Blue Christmas"... not quite that bad here. Wifey and I are happy to have time alone together, though we didn't decorate... but I did buy about 8 cases or so of Beaujolais Nouveau and filled up my wine coolers, so we'll enjoy some of that with the steak tonight and the duck tomorrow!:hungry:

Cheers!:yo:

gosh Wyn, too bad you can't afford the good stuff that comes in the box with a spigot;)

I hope you get your "ride" fixed soon enough to make it to the B-Day gig. Our "family Christmas" is totally different this year as well. I thought I was too old for "change", but it seems that "change" comes whether you want it or not.

That's my wife's usual fare for sipping! Her favorite recently changed names from Inglenook to Franzia, but the box is the same. We only get 3-liter boxes here, but in some places you can find the 5-liter boxes! :D

This is our beverage fridge. She likes the wine colder than the coolers at storage temperature of 55°. I keep it at 40° or a bit higher. The BJ is supposed to be chilled and I store it in the coolers because it's not bottled for "vintage" but for drinking... tasting the first of season's harvest.

Have a Merry Christmas Wynn. Sorry to hear about the problems with your van. Better to find out at home than out on the road somewhere.
My kids are coming over Christmas day, and we're going to have a big pot of chili. They will get the full Turkey dinners at their Mom's tonight, and my Son and his wife will get another one at his wife's house. So they wanted a pot of their Dad's chili. It should hit the spot with the below freezing days we've had for awhile.

Merry Christmas, Wynn. After our Christmas Eve Service tonight my wife & I will be home alone, but very content none-the-less.

Merry Christmas Wynn and All my Kahrtalk friends. May the blessings of the season be upon you.

Having the whole family over tonight (Mom & Dad, sisters and brothers and their progeny) Sort of a cocktail party thing. We celebrate mom's birthday today. Low key, casual and lots of fun.

Tomorrow it's Christmas Mass and then all hands once again at my sister's place for dinner.

Blessed be the transmission woes that save one from holiday travel and relatives, and allow quality home alone with no guilt attached.

For the past 20 years Cathy and I have refused both Thanksgiving and Christmas travel to and for family gatherings...preferring to spend our end of year holiday time with ourselves and our dogs. Other than getting married in 2002 after 16 years together, it's been the best life decision we've ever made.

Merry Christmas to All and to All a Good Night!! :hippie:

HA! Good one Grotman.

Good night to you guys, too!

I was looking forward to the road trip and this one may be a 4,300-mile round trip test drive for the new tranny, if it checks out by Friday. I want to carry lots of guns, ammo, and wine with us.

:59: :80:

Well, it's that time here! Merry Christmas!!

Well, close enough here to call it good.

Merry frigging Christmas to all. Glad it's here, I'll be better when it's over.

Ice storms, sick Grandsons, Dang-nabid UPS (...yes sir we have your wife's gift here and have for three days, but we have no intentions of delivery before the 26th... and even that's not a promise...) full grown family fighting on Facebook like a bunch of frigging high school girls and the general rudeness of "happy shoppers" all over town have lead me here.

On the other hand, Watching the Grandson digging in that pile of gifts come morning should be a moment of greatness.

Sigh

Okay, okay, a Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night. Santa out!

At 6:02 this morn, I heard such a clatter outside, that I threw on my robe and opened the door to see what was the matter!. Santa had arrived and was planting packages under our Christmas tree. Then with a wink and a nod he disappeared via my pellet stove chimney. And as he left I could hear him say - "Time to get up and start cooking breakfast. Family will soon be here".

This grandfather is looking forward to a blessed Christmas time. I hope yours is the same.

Wow, I got 3 illegals in my stocking today. They will be cleaning my 3 bikes tomorrow to see if I want to keep um or return um. I can get a 8 weed ol Border Collie for 3 illegals, so I am leaning towards a new dog to help me tend to my sheep...

Ahhh... it's a sunny, hazy day here... about 52° so far. Wifey and I exchanged cards, hugs, and kisses. I'm starting my second cup of coffee after checking out Facebook for relatives and friends entries... photos and such.

The Mrs. Smith Blueberry pie is baking in the oven... about time... has been in the bottom of the freezer for a while... best by September 9, 2011. The Maple Leaf farm-raised duck is thawed for our feast, along with the rice stuffing packaged with it. I even got a small container of Häagen Dazs vanilla ice cream in case Wifey wants it à la mode. :D

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas with their loved ones today. We should all keep our service men and women in our thoughts, too, as many are not with their loved ones and are stationed in places intolerant, to say the least, of our Judeo-Christian heritage.

To All My Democrat Friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2014, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other countries nor the only " America " in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishes.

To My Republican Friends:
Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year
