Had a Kahr 9mm several years ago and could not get it to work. If I remember correctly it would FTF about 1/2 way through each magazine. Sent back to Kahr on their dime, got it back, and it did the same thing. Thought, oh well, I guess they are not for me. Think I traded for another Sig or something.

Some of my retired LEO friends have the real small 9mm Kahr's and love them (PM 9 and CM 9).

My local dealer has two 2-tone CM 9s in stock for a decent price. Thinking of trying one out again.

Lot of bad reviews on the internet but, I would still like to try one again.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Especially any thoughts or experiences on the newest ones.

Thanks,

Trooper Joe

I've had a PM9 for about 3 years now. Love it. Had to get thru the break-in period but it runs great for me. A CM9 should run the same since there are only minor differences that should not affect function. YMMV.

I guess it depends which reviews you read....................................

Had my CM9 a year now. Nearing 2000 rounds through it and not 1 problem. An old mechanic friend of mine told me years ago he had seen very few lemon cars in his lifetime. A lot of lemon drivers.

+1 on this.

I have not seen a large number of these in regard to the CM9 - but I'm sure if you look in the right place they're there. Truth is there are plenty of bad reviews on every gun made/sold. Look around any of the forums and there are problems with all (Glock, Sig, Kimber, S&W, Ruger...)

Take things with a grain of salt remembering that an unhappy or disappointed person is far more likely to post something than a happy contented owner. It's just human nature.

Good luck.

By the way, my CM9 has been flawless.

Well, I just picked it up this morning. I got the latest serial number (the two he had were only about 3 week apart, the dealer thought).

He only had one 7 round (no spacer) extra mag so I passed on it. I will look for a 2nd 6 round mag at the gun shows.

Going to clean it, check the magazine spring, and dry cycle it a lot before I hit the range.

The gun seems real well made, so no matter what, I am going to get this thing to work.

Thanks for the replies,

Welcome to Kahrtalk Trooper Joe....I found this place back in 2009 right after it started because my new CW40 was dropping magazines after almost every round....Many nice and knowledgeable folks here helped me to get a new magazine catch free from Kahr and helped me to install it which fixed the problem....

Not sure if Kahrtalk was around when you had the original problems with your old 9mm but if you have any issues at all with the new one then this is the place to come for help....Do read the new Kahr pistol sticky section in the new member forum, lots of good info there and check out the lube chart as well....

Good luck with the new Kahr and let us know how she shoots and again welcome aboard....

Just checked over the gun. All looks well, I am already able to field strip it almost with just my fingers (and yes the slide catch spring is engaged properly).

Smoothed out some rough/sharp edges on the rails (did not touch the feeding ramp/it is like a mirror).

Mag taken apart and cleaned (also smoothed the inner area of the feed lips). The spring was in properly.

Feeds A-Zoom snap caps, Hornady 135 Critical Duty, and Speer Gold Dot, 115 grn OK.

Trigger is already smoothing out very well. Dry racking about 50 or 60 times is really getting this area smooth. Used Dry Slide as a break in since I remember it from Vietnam and it seemed to work well there.

Will try to get to the range in a couple of days and then report back. Ordered a 2nd 6 round and non-spacer 7 round (they were blowing them out) from Midway.

The CM9 along with the 7 round magazine (if it works) will fit real well in my off body carry system (UTG Discreet Concealed Carry Pistol Case for Compact and Subcompact Pistols and Small Revolvers see my post on this item at http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/430601935/m/1520064043?r=8480070143#8480070143 )

This thing looks like it really going to be neat.

Check Ivanhoe outlet for magazines. Got some 6 round flush mags for my Kahr a few weeks backs for $25 each.

I found a lightly used PM9 at a great price so bought it. The only problem I have ever had with it was with the 7-round mag it came with. It just would not feed properly so I got rid of it.

I liked it so much I got a new CM9 when I saw one locally at a price I couldn't pass up.

Going to clean it, check the magazine spring, and dry cycle it a lot before I hit the range.

This is what I did with mine. I couldn't get out with it for a couple of weeks so in that time I dry-fired it and racked it many, many times. Also I left the slide locked back overnight a couple of times.

It has been flawless. I hope yours is the same.

Between the two I think I have 6 or 8 mags, all stock 6-rounders, and they have all worked fine in both guns.

I've had very minor issues with the cm9's compared to the p380's. If you do what you've been doing the gun will run flawlessly!

Just got back from the first range trip. Went through about 60 - 70 rounds, mostly FMJ including about 12 rounds of NATO ammo. No issues at all, very nice shooting gun.

Even tried about 12 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 115 grn ammo (HP). Functioned perfectly.

I am not going to restrict my carrying this gun awaiting the 200 round break in recommendation. I really feel that this gun is good to go.

As soon as I get my 6 and 7 round mags from Midway, I will clean them and smooth out the area of the mag follower that passes past the mag release (like I did on my original 6 round mag). I will also smooth out the inner edge of the mag feed lips like I did my original.

I bet this gun will handle even the 7 round mag OK. We will see.

Thanks for the info posted at http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=14748 (entitled "Proper prep of a new kahr " by Jocko in the New Member area) for all the good advise.

I just bought my CM9 and was very impressed initially. I love shooting it. But, I've had an issue with the slide locking back mid-magazine. It only happened when I was testing gold dot 124+p and again today on 147 Winchester white box HPs. Possibly related to heavier loads? No such issues with 115 ball or 115 zombies. Had a small # of FTF within the 200 round breakin but none since. Help!

You will more than likely be fine without a full break in for the cm9. The only real issue I've had was the recoil spring coming apart around round 250 and even then the gun did well until I field stripped it at home. You have already shot what you are going to carry and if the 7rd mag feeds well I'd say you can enjoy it. I have a feeling you know a thing or two about clearing a malfunction so you will be fine!

People are far more likely to be critical than praise. For every bad review you'll probably find 100 people who are pleased with their Kahr. If you follow the suggestions in proper prepping of a new Kahr thread you shouldn't have any problems. If you do have problems Kahr will correct them. There are also a lot of knowledgeable people on this website to help you, too. Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.

Two years and over a thousand rounds in. I love this little CM9. My friends carry different pistols. I don't envy any of them. I like my little Kahr the best.

Joe, follow the instructions for proper prep of your CM9 found in the new members section. Read the owners manual. It will save you a lot of headaches.
