I don't understand the question? Wait for what?

Or is it weight time. Time weighs heavy on my mind.

I could understand your question if you meant you would only buy a gun from a store, not mail order, gun auction, etc. I believe these guns are available immediately to whoever has the money and the motivation.
Wait time in terms of how long a dealer's special order would take, assuming distributors are sold out and you would be waiting on Kahr production, would be difficult to estimate. A quick call to Kahr might help, but I believe they talk only to distributor level vendors, guys with the volume accounts.
There are three up on gunbroker.com, all NIB, best buy-it-now price appearing to be $739 with night sights.

I read he already bought one, I guess he means he ordered one. Buds has them in stock 661 delivered for the stainless plain sight version. I'm not sure if the DLC flavor is in stock or not.
Davidsons distributors don't seem to have any and haven't for awhile.
739 with night sights would be a decent deal if they are the sights you want. I got a set of XS's coming for mine from one of my new best friends.

...Yeah....sorry about that. I foolishly left out lots of details due to my rush.
Anyhow, I purchased a Kahr PM45 with night sights from a local dealer near Miami, FL. Since I'm fairly new to the gun world (I've recently REALLY gotten into firearms as of about 2 months ago) I was unaware of gunbroker.com and other alternatives on purchasing a firearm. I ignorantly just assumed the place to go was a dealer, all my time and research went into buying brand and caliber for a CCW and not in where to actually get one the quickest, Devil in the details. Since my peaked interest I’ve purchased two weapons. First was a Beretta PX4 Storm Sub compact 9mm which I absolutely love, better than my dad’s SIG P225, super accurate. I can EASILY group within a 4 in diameter from 7 yards. This one, however, stays with my GF at her place in case she would ever need it (she’s also a great shot). Second was what I carry with me every day, a Taurus 738 TCP, very nice little gun. Though, I’m not completely comfortable just having a .380 even with the golden sabers JHP rounds that I have and with the scarce ammo even worse.
I was introduced to Kahr at this dealer where they had a PM45. I instantly fell in love with it. My previous history with handguns were only with SIG (P225 9mm my dad owns) and Glock (M30 & 27, my brother owns). So, upon extensive research on various firearms I narrowed it down to the Glock 36 and the Kahr PM45, I think you all figured out that winner.
About two weeks ago I went back to get the PM45 and it was gone and none where left. So since the gentlemen who was helped me out on my Taurus purchase and was very very helpful I decided to keep giving him my business and asked him to order me one. He did warn me that it can take a while but I went with it anyways. So, my question to you fellow Kahr owners is…How long when you order a Kahr from a dealer would you ESTIMATE it would take to actually receive it. I ask this simply because reading threads I tend to see “My Kahr finally arrived” and “After a long wait” and such. So I was just curious, how long my actual can wait time be?

I think that the only person who can answer this is your dealer who should call his distributor. You probably will hear that they cannot estimate, only guess. You may want to cancel and go with gunbroker.com if you cannot wait.

Or your dealer can order for you from Buds or anywhere else that has one. Your a good man to support your local dealer, they need our support. Long as he's fair with his pricing and most important honest I'd stick with him. It's anyones guess right now how long it would take to get one. Michael, where was that Florida dealer that had such good prices that didn't have any when you got your?
I was in precisely your same place a month ago, actually much longer than that. I was ready to go with the Glock 36, had one in stock locally , price was excellent, I've had one before but I was mesermized by the little PM45. Got it friday abused the crap out of it Sunday and absolutely no regrets. The 36 is a great gun but the size, grip shape and "looks" of the PM just blow my dress up completely around my neck.
I'm the king of impatience so in your shoes I would be the proverbial squeaky wheel. The I have money, I want my gun now proverb would be well applied. It rarely works but I still stick with it. Good luck, hope you don't wait too long. Keep us posted. You can read the manuals and the proper prep of your new kahr right here on this site while your waiting.
We're wide open to talking about things to come, anywhere you want to go. Now we're all aching with anticipation nearly as bad as you, so your not alone.

I got my PM9 in June 2009.
When I went in, they only had PM40s. I got on a waiting list and waited 2 weeks. This was in June, and they only got 2 in. I got one of em. I asked them when had they had any before that, and I was told about 4 or 5 months. I lucked out.

I agree that supporting your local dealer should always be the top priority. Unfortunately the few dealers in my general area all stick to manufacturers retail pricing on in stock or orders.

There's suppose to be one big shop down there that deals big quantities, caters to LE and has super prices. I can't remember the name. Michael and a couple others went there. They were out 3 weeks ago or so, so they may not be any help but the prices were phenomenal. Michael was gonna put my name on one too if they had any. Maybe Wynn knows of it too, he's down in that corner of the world.

Found it!!!! B&H Gunrack. Suppose to be a kahr distributor down there. He didn't mention what town it was in but Florida ain't very wide on the map, just drive north and south and you should be able to see the sign.

It's abbreviated and I attempted a bit of humor, but it covers some problems some of us have had with the PM45 and others recently.
A good way to shop for guns is to Google whatever you're after and look at some of the big and reputable sites like GunBroker.com. There are many others with good security and reputations. Use their FFL listings to shop for an FFL dealer to receive your gun for you. You can shop by proximity and fee, which can really vary.
The Gun Shop/Range I frequent wanted $50 fee to receive a gun for me, $5 instant check and tax on all of that... close to $60!
I found a dealer for $25 out the door for my PM45 and then switched another standing order to him as well. Had the other dealer been more reasonable with the fee, I would have stuck with him. I guess he was trying to make up for not having the gun to sell me.
You can shop the whole country as well or better than your local dealer who may just use certain distributors.

Or just order the Bawanna Special. It comes with no problems other than shortage of ammunition and range time. Hope rx7 gets one soon, the wait is already getting brutal for me. Holding one in my had or mentioning that I'm holding one in my hand is probably salt in an open wound but it's nice. Having recently suffered on his end of the waiting game I can relate to the pain and discomfort this causes. Course not everyone is impatient as me, actually I don't know anyone impatient as me. Are we there yet?

Don't be bashful about canceling that order, especially if no one, even Kahr, will give a delivery date. You are in charge as the person with the money and who is supposed to be happy. I don't see how there could be any hard feelings about it. Just make sure you have a bird in hand first...something lined up with an open Buy-it-now on an auction.
p.s. have you shot anything as hefty as a .45 before? Messing around with pocket guns and then stepping to the line with a sawed off .45 could be quite a shock.

Ooooh, I like the sawed off 45 descriptor but good thought. As far as shock I still maintain the 40 is more of a shocker. The actual jolt factor to me is worse in a 9 than the 45. Not recoil per se but jolt.

Hey guys, I'm new here. I just bought a PM45 and was just wondering what is the typical wait time seen.
RX,
I'll echo what my compadres have said here, the question of "how long"
really depends on the dealer and who he uses as a distributor.
Having said that, there are a lot of dealers that order from a distributor
called Davidson's. Davidson's also hosts "portal" gun websites for dealers that]
are part of their network. Davidson's also allows you to order a gun directly
from them to be delivered to your local dealer where you will take delivery.
The reason I bring all this up is because usually if Davidson's is out of stock
then its a good bet that your dealer isn't going to be getting one from them
either. You can check Davidson's stock online Buy guns online at galleryofguns.com, top brands, best price, best service, best warranty; all types of guns: revolvers, rifles, pistols and shotguns. (http://www.galleryofguns.com/)
Use the "Gun Genie" link. That doesn't mean that ALL distributors are out
of stock either but it can give you a feel of availability. The PM45
unfortunately is a bit hard to find right now. The reason that I got from
B&H Gunrack when I was shopping for mine was that Kahr is focusing
on the better selling models (CW series and PM9) and that they really
didn't know when they would be getting any PM45's.
So I think that you are entitled to a reasonable expectation from your
dealer on how long it should take to get the gun and if it's not something
you're happy with you should not feel bad about cancelling the order
and try to find one on your own. Or if it were me, I'd go and try to
find one and make sure it was available before cancelling the order.
I'm all for supporting the local shop but in my case most of the local
shops are arrogant horses arses that are riding the wave of the current
high demand and overcharge as often as they can.

Thanks for the responses. I got my PM45 for 665 plus tax and $5 background check. This by far was the cheapest I found at any dealer in the Miami Area.
Bawanna45cal, I am totally and instant gratification type person, so waiting is killing me! I really am trying to exercise my patience and like i said since the gentlemen provided me with great customer service i will still with him and the dealer, not to mention that I think I got a pretty good deal for it.
Also, thanks for the great suggestion on the the manuals and such I've actually read them already...several times; and watched the video's. I am still deciding on what holster to get. I plan on carrying "Carla" (screw it, lets name her) pretty much everywhere I go. So i need something comfortable. Any suggestions?

at_liberty, I have shot two .45's before; my brother's Glock 30 and a Glock 36 I rented during my decision making period from an indoor range about 2 miles from my house. I didn't have any problem with either of them, though I did have a FTF with the 36 on the first clip but that was it, shot 100 rounds.
I just love the way the PM feels in my hand, I can't wait to shoot her!

665 is a great price, has to be the stainless standard sight version for that and that's perfectly fine. Mine was 661 was 15 for the transfer. If your getting that price from your local guy your doing very well. My local guys weren't even close and were reluctant to even try I guess assuming that I was too poor or something. But I've used them many times before and they know once something gets in Bawanna's head it ain't going away.
Shooting the 36 was a great thing and you'll have no issues with the PM. Other than the ankle rig I'm still feeling out holsters as well although mine will normally reside on my leg. That was my plan. Always nice to have other options though. I intend to check with Mernickle, I have a few of his for other guns and love them, should be no different with the PM45. Anything we can do to help with the waiting period just say the word.

I must have gotten lucky when I got my pm45. Went to my LGS. on a Tues. and got it on Thurs. the same week. It came from Davidsons. They were the only one's to have a pm45 dlc with n/s. Since I bought mine and have been looking around for others, they seem to have become scarce. Also been looking for a pm9, haven't found any of those either. Last time I checked Davidsons they didn't have any. I like the deal at Davidsons, if there is something wrong they warrent the gun also.
