Why is there no modern semi auto handgun chambered in 7.62x25 ?
I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
Got a Romanian TTC and its a blast to shoot.
I'm not into the whole cocked and locked thing so its a safe queen.
The round is readily available, its not overpriced, and its one nasty little round.
Wonder why no gun manufacturer has run with that ball.......

The issue is that the ammo is not really "readily available" (ie. new manufactured ammo in US and around the world)... only surplus stuff. And it seems even that might be a little less readily available these days. Also, most people aren't familiar with the round and won't buy a gun they can't get ammo for at their LGS. I think a manufacturer would have a tough time justifying the expense knowing it would be such a niche market.
I would like a modern pistol chambered in 7.62x25, but this may be the closest we are going to get...

Or something similar (yet not as cheap and a softer bullet) is the 22TCM by Armscor (Rock Island Armory). They make a 1911 that comes with a 22TCM barrel and a 9mm barrel at a really good price. That way if the 22TCM never takes off, or is too expensive, you still can shoot 9mm.

I continue to long for a MK45.
But my second choice would be a MK357 Elite.
A 357 Sig barrel for the MK40 wouldn't be that big a deal to produce.
But sadly 357 Sig popularity seems to be fading.
I'm afraid it's going the way of the 10mm.
Took me about a year to obtain an OEM 357 Sig barrel for my HK P2000SK.
Truth is that's the gun I carry the most.

I have a 1956 Romanian TTC, looks like new and I really like it, but I dont carry anything that has a safety.

I just recently bought some brand new not surplus Serbian made PRVI for about 20 a box, it has gone up now.
But gunbot.net has a couple places listed in stock one selling new Sellier & Bellot for 25 box.

So its absolutely not true about it only being available surplus.
I only buy the non corrosive stuff.
And lets talk about a couple niche guns that started out reasonably priced and are now ridiculous priced and hard to find, FN 5.7 and KelTec PMR30.
If they made a modern semi auto in 7.62x25, I'd wager to say it would be the same.

Wow, I never knew anyone actually made that round. $20-$25 a box of 50 is pretty pricy though. Kind of looses some of its appeal at those prices. Also those are soft core which also looses some appeal for some people who "dig" that round. I still have never seen it at any LGS. I still might do the conversion barrel for a 1911 to try out for fun.

7.62x25 and the 5.7x28 are the only two handgun rounds that defeat level 3 kevlar.
Nasty little round, recoil about like a 9mm but fire come out the end of the barrel about a foot.
Fun to shoot.

Technically my Bulgarian SLR-106U 10.5" 5.56x45 AK is classified and a pistol.
SWAT members with 10.5" barreled ARs shred level 3 Kevlar with 5.56 NATO.
That's with standard rounds not some LE only armor piercing stuff.
Hornady TAP T2 75 gr BTHP runs ~2,449 fps @ 999 E from a 10.5" barrel.
It barks and throws some flame too - LOL!

I always thought the 7.62x25 to be interesting. Oddly enough, as a .30 cal, it can't be used for the range portion of the Texas Concealed Handgun license. It can be carried with the CHL license, as could a .17 hmr, .22 short, up to the biggest holed "BFR", just can't be smaller than .32 cal for the range qualification.
I bet it would be no fun to reload. No carbide dies, so case lubing required (with care to avoid lube on the case shoulders). Relatively thin brass.

I switch between carrying the following:
HK P2000SK in .357sig
HK USP Compact in .357sig
and of course my backups are always the MK9 or MK40

I've got one P2000SK 357.
And identical twin P2000 357s.

But no USPc 357.
That one's on my list...

let's try to get back to something that looks like a real pistol. here's the Browning inspired T-33. I have a Serbian copy in 9mm. I'm tempted to buy another one in 7.62x25(Tokarev). check the ballistics-- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62%C3%9725mm_Tokarev anything going 1600fps has got to hurt. look at places like jgsales for ammo deals (800 rounds for $229).

Actually look at 5.7X28mm and move into modern capable rounds. This is doable if Kahr chose to with some engineering.
I have a FNH Five-seveN that I really like.
