Just received a new recoil spring from Kahr and tried putting it in last night. It was very tough to try and fit it in and I just stopped after 5 tries to find out to see if that's normal for a new spring or not. No problem getting the old one in.

Also it is longer than the one that is currently in there but I'm guessing that's because it's brand new.

Are new recoil springs supposed to be tough and longer like this one? Do you just have to man handle it in there?

There has been some previous discussion that Kahr sends out a generic spring that you may need to cut to length for your pistol. I had a replacement spring that was too long and would bind up and not fit at all in my CM40 -- I had to cut a couple of coils off to make it work. Count the coils in your old spring as a guide. Hope this is helpful.

When I received my now spring the coil count was the same and a lot longer. I'd say at least 3/4" or more. I had a tough time getting it together and then couldn't hardly pull the slide back. I racked it several times and then let it sit overnight pulled back and locked. It helped.
