View Full Version : Excessive wear on the barrel?

I shot about 140 rounds through my new CW380. I noticed while field stripping to clean the gun a lot of wear on the barrel. Is this normal for a Kahr? I've got well over 3000 rounds through my S&W Shield and hardly see any where on it.

I don't have a 380 but I'd say that's perfectly normal, maybe slightly better than normal actually.

If its bothersome to you many polish the barrel and hood. It polishes up really easy and those unsightly wear areas virtually disappear.
I use those little wear marks as a road map of where to put a little oil when cleaning.

Bawana, thanks. I'm new to Kahr. I like this CW380 a lot better than the S&W Bodyguard and the Taurus TCP that I used to have. The bodyguards trigger was horrible and the gun was painful to shoot. The Taurus was...well...a taurus - junk!

Normal because the relatively soft plating is doing its job of preventing galling

Those minor wear marks are what we in the gun business call beauty marks. It's those minor imperfections that make the old girl look good and they add character. They help you to differentiate a working gun from a safe queen.

That's your barrel mating to your slide.

My p380 looks just like that with 100 rounds but a bunch of slide racking.

I think its the way Kahr angles the barrel hood where its parallel to the slide as it cycles. Glocks, for example seem to angle it to where only the front portion of the hood comes in contact.

Both of my SIGs have wear marks like the Kahr does.

+1 Me, too. Your wear marks look very similar to my CW40s.
