new to me

picked this up a couple weeks ago. added wood and ss guide rod. im still under 5 hundred. box papers mags ect.
also have a PM black diamond.

put a couple boxed thru it no problems just like the PM9.
actually my third kahr and never a jam even on break in.
had to work to get the grips right. added metal over the factory metal as it was recessed to far and made a aggravating click when trigger engaged.

You will not be sorry with a K9. I have an E9, which is the econo version, and it shoots like butter.

Looks really nice but isn't the gun slippery to shoot with that smooth grip and front strap?

not really slippery to me. probably because I can get all my fingers around the grip.
I will consider eventually having something done to the front strap.

Good luck with your new purchase. I have a K40 that I got used. Put the smooth wood grips on with no problems. I have plenty of "gription" with mine. Checkering the front strap is expensive. You might consider checkered grips before going that route. Also, Checkering the front strap can't be un-done.

I personally love a checkered front strap. My Cbob is checkered, I'd like it better if it was a bit finer but I like it a lot.

They make add on checkered front straps for 1911's that are easily trimmed and will fit the Kahr. They work well when applied carefully. They are just held on by the grips. 10 bucks or less as I recall.

A good way to see if a person wants real checkering.

As for grip checkering I know a guy that can do that if anybody needs that done.

Hi all
I may check out the temporary front strap grip for 1911s
Next I will look into night sights. I like the trijicons on my G19 but I haven't found any online for the K9.
I see big dots and kahr sells and installs night sights. not sure which way to go there.
I like the K9 a lot and it feels like a quality piece.
one thing I noticed is this gun was bought new in 2012 and looks like it was only shot very little.
the trigger on the K9 seems shorter that the PM9 but I noticed the trigger looks like a different shape and that may be the reason?
also I will order the 5 lb trigger striker spring and try that out.

I put skateboard tape on my front strap and it works extremely well.

As I read here. (1911 short grip screws work)
had to countersink the bottom ones a little as they were short. not much. looks better.
