I bought my first Kahr last week and got to shoot it for the first time this morning. I am pleasantly surprised and sorry I did not buy one sooner. The CW 45 performed awesome.

I prepped it per the instructions on the newbie forum, cleaning it and lubing it per the guidelines given there, also. I only shot at 7 yards and the groups got better the more I got used to the sights. Creating the figure eight and getting used to it will take some time.

All total, I fired 64 rounds through it today with absolutely no issues. I fired 12 loose Winchester White Box 230 gr FMJ rounds, 50 Federal Champion 230 gr FMJ rounds, and 2 Hornady XTP hollow points just to see if they would feed. They did. I still have 150 or so rounds to go before the pistol is broken in, and I can't wait to get back out to the range. I will have more rounds through it next Saturday.

The most surprising thing for me was the felt recoil. I did not know what to expect, but when I shot the first round, thought, OK! Fired the second round and had to pull out my Glock 21 just to make sure. For me, the felt recoil on the CW 45 is less than my Glock 21 which weighs a whole lot more. It might be that the grip on the CW 45 being thinner fits in my hand better, it might be that the bore is lower, I don't know. I just know that I was pleasantly surprised. I just wanted to state that for anyone else on here who might be thinking about a CW 45 and might be worried about the felt recoil. There is recoil, it is a 45 after all, but I am extremely happy.

I used the 6 round magazine that came with it, and 2 new 7 round magazines I bought from Midway. Again, no issues at all.

I can't wait for next Saturday to come, and hope anyone on the fence about getting a CW 45 might be a little more informed.

Welcome to KahrTalk! Glad to here things went well for you with your new CW45. My PM45 is one of my favorite guns to shoot.

DPS...is that your initials or are you a State Trooper in Texas?

I think mostly it's the bore axis in relation to your hand. The 21 will rock more since the barrel is higher.

The CW45 is sweet gun. I have a PM but some day hope to have a CW to run with it.

Glad you had a good first outing, I'm truly not surprised at all.

Welcome aboard enjoy your stay.
Its great hearing more completely satisfied new Kahr owners & there experiences with there new find, the CW 45 is a great piece & I'm disappointed in myself for waiting so long before finally snagging 1.
The feel is great & the punch it packs is outstanding. :D

congrats and welcome.
keep an eye on the back of the magazines at the top near the feed-lips. both of mine developed cracks during the break-in period. kahr replaced them for free.

Welcome and glad to hear it's running good. It's good that yours will run Hornady XTP. that's the only round mine won't chamber but it's still all good. Not worth sending it back just because one type of ammo doesn't work. It eats anything else otherwise.

Hello RJT123,

I am not in LE, it is just my initials.

I almost made it to the range today, I was there, I waited an hour, but I was still waiting for a stall. I eventually said forget it. I will be back on Friday or Saturday.

Depending on how my wife shoots the CW 45, I might be trading in the 21 on a new CW 45 for her. She doesn't like the Glock at all. She shoots a 1911 like it was part of her arm, but the Glock kicks too much for her. I thought it was light until again, shooting the CW 45 made me realize I was wrong. With 4 high capacity magazines, it will probably work out to be an even trade (Used discounted value vs new price).

I discovered the CW45 several years ago and thought it was a perfect holster carry gun. Unfortunately, I was seduced by the somewhat more pocketable PM45. When the PM was stolen, I didn't hesitate and bought another CW45. Even though it's the least expensive 45 I own, I still carry it about 75% of the time.

Hello RJT123,

Gotcha. In Texas, the state troopers are called the Department of Public Safety. Everybody refers to them simply as "The DPS", which is what made me wonder.
