Just recently I came across a seldom seen FEG SMC-22. I thought I'd give it a try as the usual reputation of the commie gun is that they are robust and reliable... good traits for a plinker .22. It's a rough clone of the venerable Walther PP. I consider it a nice addition to my fun gun collection.

Speaking of the Walther; I also recently found this very nice PP in .22lr. It is almost pristine in it's finish and looks little used. This is a nice addition to my heirloom collection. Probably won't use this one a lot, but rather will pass it on when appropriate. This one is a Ulm proofed, Interarms import. Beautiful guns with a super finish, smooth action and a great reputation.

I always thought the .22's were the best PP's going, as far as reliability was concerned. We saw a lot of 380's that weren't too reliable. Finicky. The .22's just ran and ran.

I am so jealous:)
That is a nice pair.
I've been tempted by the .22LR PP for years, but I had damped that flame with a Beretta 87; now you've gone and rekindled it.
The FEG SMC-22 is pretty cool. I wouldn't mind one having one of those in the safe.
Speaking of clones: don't you have a Daewoo DP52 as well?
Regards,
Greg

Yes, I have a DP52, which IMHO is one of the top small frame .22s ever made. While not the most gorgeous gun ever produced, finish wise, it is very well made. Has HK quality machining.
Here's the Daewoo with a PP, this one a .32acp though.

I've kept my eye out for a Beretta 87, but have yet to bump into one for sale. Beautiful pistol. I've eased my pain with a nice 948

and a cherished 70s.

More excellent pistols ripley16:cool: Thanks for sharing them!
The 948 looks to be particularly good shape.
The 70s is no slouch either.
I have a 101 that I like:

I recently picked up a slightly abused Astra Constable in .22LR. It's not in the same class fit/finish wise of any the above, but it's reliable and accurate:)

My second carry gun, in the 1970s, was an Astra Constable in .380. It was a nice gun and a .22 Constable is definitely on my "like to have" list.

I love old style classics. Even in .22 I just want to have one.

I've yet to shoot either. It's been too cold. :( Supposed to be in the 50s by Friday... maybe then.

My brother-in-law let me shoot his PP in .32 just a week ago. I'm smitten. And now you go sharing all this... I'm jealous. Thanks.
