About 6 months ago I acquired a very gently used Kahr P380, and I am a fan of it. It's very comfortable to carry and shoot, and has become much more reliable over time. Here's the issue I'm having. I have the blackened slide and night sights upgrades on my pistol. I carry in the pocket using a kydex Stellar Rigs holster (which is hands down the most concealing pocket holster I've ever tried) or in a Crossbreed mini-tuck, also kydex. I'm not sure if it's just the holster material or what, but around the corners/edges of the barrel end of the slide and on the slide release I'm getting a lot of the black finish rubbing off and revealing silver underneath. I'm not too nervous about it, since I don't plan on ever selling, and I think it adds a bit of character, as well as showing the pistol has been well loved and well carried. However, I was wondering about this as the Kahr black finished is supposed to be much stronger than this, or so I thought. Also, would it be helpful or harmful to using a bluing pen to re-blacken those spots? Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

I have an MK9 with the Birdsong slide. I carry in a Desantis which is much softer than what you are using. I have wear in the same area around the front. I don't think I would attempt to use a bluing pen....I think you may make it worse, looks wise. Just think of them as age spots. If it really bothers you, you could wait until it really bothers you, and have the slide redone.

Sounds good. I'll just say it adds character.

I believe you've got to accept that kind of wear from a Kydex holster.

I get very noticeable frame and slide holster wear from my Kydex pocket holster used for my PM9. This is because Kydex is tough stuff and that I practice my draw more then any other aspect of HD/SD carry.

think it would be a durable finish but again, wear is wear. IMO. it is what it is. If it is working great, then just live with it and shoot it like u stole it. Not a real show peace IMO although it is a nice look, ing gun but that wear as u said shows character to. Jut sayin
