Hey all,
I have and love my Kahr have had it almost 2 years, I shoot it 1-2 times a month, the trigger is smooth and broke in nicely, however, i still prefer the single action trigger of my XD40.
One of the the LGS in town says they can lighten trigger and speed up the reset on the Kahr, and its completely reversible. The GS said has has done about 50 Kahrs, with 2 coming back for adjustments after FTF.
Any ideas on what the gunsmith is doing to lighten up the trigger and shorten the reset? It sounds great, but this is my carry gun, and it needs to work every time.
Thanks

Can't images there is much. Bending the spring on the trigger will do a little. I don't know why you would want a lighter shorter trigger on a kahr, especially with zero safeties. I have polished everything and put on the lighter spring and it does nothing for reset or length.

Mr Wilson I hope he doesn't turn your gun into Dennis The Menace
If you examine how the parts interact, there's not much that can be done in the way of reversable reset modifications. I've not studied it extensively, but as of now... I'm of the opinion that an alteration to the trigger bar, will neccesitate an alteration of the cam, and of the striker. At that point, the striker block may or may not be enganing as it ought to, leading to potension safety issues.
There is a point of no return with the striker spring, you have little mass to get the primer ignited, and... whats there needs acceleration in order to function.
The best you can do - as demonstrated here - is the 5lb Wolff spring, which works with nearly ammo/gun combination its applied to. There may be some guns, and some ammo, especially reloaded or re-manufactured ammo, that it gives iffy results on.
I'm also fully convinced that the only reversable way to effect the reset is by replacing parts.
As was said "I've done my share of bootlegging. Up 'ere, if you engage in what the federal government calls 'illegal activity,' but what we call 'just a man tryin' to make a livin' for his family sellin' moonshine liquor,' it behooves oneself to keep his wits. Long story short, we hear a story too good to be true... it ain't!"

If you replace the striker spring with a Wolff 5# spring and do a little polishing I think that you'll be happy with the results. Here's a vid to point you in the right direction. You may find that replacing the striker spring is all you need to do.

buy the 5# striker spring from wolffs, installt urself kand LEAVE THE REST OF THE FOKKER "ALONE".
iF HE DOES ANYTHING WITHT HE TRIGER RESET IT HAS TO BE IN THE TRIGGER BAR/TRIGGER no where else can it be done. If u want a single actill buy the kimber solo and then hope to god it never goes bang in ur pocket. Kahrs are what they are, Really a true DA gun, no safetys other than what is between ur ears, a gon that will go bang when needed and a gun that more than likely you will have on ur more than that XD to. Any fool (me included) wold say u gotta love a single action over a DA but they are just nbot as pocket safe to carry either.
Leave the gun alone. I have read very very few successful trigger shortening stuff. If u want a sorter reste then buy the enhance trigger model PM9 that kahr offers, it doe shae a external safety as that is because IMO the trigger is now in the glock territory, with almost50% + pre-cocked and needs that safety for peace of mind. and NO u cannot send ur kahr into kahgr to get tyhe enhanced trigger system in it.
Ur trigger is 3/8' travel, kahrs enhanced is now 1/4" travel, so we are talking about 1/8" difference. trust me in a gun fight u will never notice the difference of either. If ur gonna bench rest it kthen maybe the 1/4" wold do a better grouping but again this is a true defense gun. ,,, leave it the fokk along. Just sayin:amflag:
as bad as I hate to say it. muggsy is right. (makes me puke though)
