I would like to use my CW9 in IDPA from time to time. It would be helpful to have 10 round mags.

Does anyone make a 10 round mag for the CW9?

I would think that it would be difficult to make a 10 round single stack mag.

Pro-Mag makes a 10rd mag for the P9/CW9.
No idea how good it is though...

Just curious and I'm certainly not faulting your desire for 10 rounders but isn't IDPA kind of designed to be played with guns the way you carry them everyday. Kind of a run what ya brung concept to practice real life scenarios. I know there are different classes and some of them get pretty sophisticated using guns that no one would ever ccw?
To be competitive I'm sure the high caps would be beneficial but for real world practice your kind of defeating the purpose.
Am I thinking any where close to right here?

Perhaps if you carry a 6rd flush in the gun and a couple 10rd spares it would still be OK for IDPA.

Too bad the Promags have such a bad rep. If I were a metal worker I might buy one to see if it can be modded to perfection. I would think a 10rd would be easier to grab as my wife sewed a half pocket for my 7rd spares to keep them in reach.

But they have to work when you need them or they can kill you.

I would guess going into a IDPA match with a kahr is a detriment, but if one goes into that event with his kahr with the concept of actual training etc for defense purposes, it would then be the gun to have. If you want to win, definitely get another brand gun.

Personally for me if I was to do that, it would be with my PM9 and nothing else, a ribbon on the wall means nothing to me but shooting that course and doing basicaly what ever one else is doing with a better qualified gun for that event, only maybe alot slower would have no bearing on me what so ever..

That is one of the things that always appealed to me about IDPA and the defensive shooting games, real world practice with the same equipment you carry everyday. I think for awhile maybe a long while they lost track of the original intent and broke out the serious speed toys. Sadly I Wynned = procrastinated for too long, perhaps 30 years too long. Doubt I could play now. I might try shooting them bowling pins some day, kind of looks like fun. I think the range we been going to does that some times.

Hey! Did I hear my name taken in vain? That's the only thing I don't put off... procrastination.
Still on generator power here and the A/C is humming along. They are still working on the first pole and there's at least one more... the one the ospreys dine on.
I'm glad I finally got to the generator maintenance or I would be pretty hot now... temperature and mad at myself for not being ready.

I shot in an event 2 weeks ago and out of the 5 stages in my classof 8 shooters I had the highest accuracy score 2 times, 2nd best 2 times, and was tied for 3rd with 3 other guys one time. I came in last place overall. I would rather have good hits at a good pace then miss very quickly. But thats just me.

So the scoring must average hit scores as well as times. Were you shooting a Kahr? I'm with you, I'd prefer good hits, I just can't seem to miss fast enough to be competitive.

As far as if it is possible to have a 10 rounder I have two for my SIG 239 . If they can make the 10 rounder for the SIG why not for the Kahr 9mm?

I agree with you guys about accurate over speed. I have shot my CW9 in IDPA and it does take more magazine changes and swapping magazines to load and make ready. Mr Wild Bill Hickok has been quoted as saying "You can't miss too fast". I am not sure that is an accurate quote from the famous gun fighter, but I like it. When you have a some what limited number of rounds it pays to be accurate. While I would love to be fast and accurate I will take accurate.

The operative word is GAME. IDPA and its sister USPSA are fun events.

I am 61 yrs ols and certainly not the highest scoring competitor, but each month I am getting better. These kinds of activities bring out the weak areas of your skill set, and with practice you smooth out those rough edges. I have used my Kahr CW9 in IDPA and, yes, it does require more magazine changes. USPSA generally has longer strings of fire and sometimes you need as many as 5 10 round mags (or even more 8 round mags...do the math), so I have never used the CW9 for these matches.

My regular IDPA/USPSA gun is a XDm 9mm. I shoot limited 10 (a maximum of 10 round loads). This requires more reloads, which for me is better because I an building my skills.

The CW9 is my conceiled carry gun. I carry a 7 round magazine + 1 in the chamber. I would never consider conceiled carying a 10 round maagazine because it makes everything way too big.

I would consider a ProMag 10 round magazine if I had confidence that they will work reliabily...not because it is life or death, but because I expect all of my equipment to work flawlessly.

In the future if ProMag develops a more reliable product, I will buy it; but for now I do not care to be the Test Dummy.

Be Safe

Wow, Thats one of the pistols I use for IDPA! Either my XD-9 or my BHP. However I have been surprised by the performance of the CW9. A little slower than the other two pistols, but right in the ball park. BKHANN we have very similar experience with pistols.
