Have you ever had your hands on a MK9 LTD, and made any grips for one? I know that the regular grips for a newer MK need to be "dremmeled" to fit. This may have been answered somewhere in a previous thread. Just curious, because I am debating whether to change out my grip. Like it the way it is, but it's not very pretty. Nothing wrong with a little bling once in a while. I can be handy with a Dremel, but would rather not, if I can help it.;)

I assume by LTD you mean the Elite? I don't think the LTD or Elite has any effect on the grip or frame. There's still that new versus old frame issue hence the need for dremel tool.
I gave back the MK9 I borrowed. I had it for a couple years, it was about time to go and rebond with it's owner.
I still don't have a handle on these frame variations.

As long as you have a GCxxxx serial number, you can feel comfortable ordering the factory grips. The "dremelling" is minor and nothing to fear. You can do it with a razor blade.
If memory serves, the Colonel's loaner MK was a GAxxxx serial number. Kahr officially does not offer a wood grip to fit those although I've never held one to compare.
Good luck.

No, not an Elite................just an Mk9 with the LTD serial number. Run of 400 made. Birdsong slide. I have heard that the regular wood MK grips need some finagling.

I guess that could be part of my question.............they don't officially offer grips for mine either.http://kahrtalk.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

They are a bit confusing and I don't have good answers. I've had guns with GA serial numbers that my grips did not fit.
I've had GC serial numbers where they did fit. I can't figure it out.
I've pretty much avoided making MK's and K's. Too frustrating. But I'll give it a go for folks here.

Just having a hard time figuring out what the difference would be, between the serial #models. Apparently, from what I have been reading here on the forum, it's a question with an answer that has yet to be found.

I have sent off an email to Kahr. We will see if I get an answer.

I didn't realize the LTDs had different serial number prefixes.

Yep ... LTD is the literal serial number prefix ... followed by a 3 digit number from 001 to 400.
Beretta, keep me posted on what you find ... I might be interested in some Bawanna bling as well.

Ok. Per the above thread Kahr started making GCxxxx MKs in Dec 1998. LTDs were made beginning August 2001. So that would mean that the LTDs should have the GC frame? Therefore the factory wood grips should work?
Then again, I thought I remember reading that the frame change happened around 2001 or 2002 which would put the LTDs squarely in the grey area.
I guess I'm curious to see what Kahr says.

Well, I got my answer, in a timely manner, I must say from Jay. The older models have a slight difference in the grip mounting hole locations. Case closed. No grips for me.

NEVER GIVE UP.
I'll look and see if I still have the last set I made that didn't fit somebody's MK. The one I borrowed was an early GA. I'll send em to you and we'll cross fingers and hope we're lucky.
I can't remember if I have them or sent them to somebody else.
PM me your address and I'll try to remember to look tonight.

From what I gather, and I could be mistaken...............they must have changed the grip hole location for the GA and LTD prefix only. Why, is anybody's guess.

I think they changed after those.
Some are so close but need different length screws top and bottom.
I've been trying to figure it out for a long time and still don't have it.
