It stays open after a round fires even though the mag is full. I had a terrible time reassembling after cleaning last week. And it has given me fee jam problems consistantly since new. I bought an extended mag for it and its a good paper weight since it jams worse with it than the stock mag. It has been sent back once and still has the problems i sent it in for.

sounds to me like u have the little springhy by the slide lock lever under that slide lock nub instead of on top of it. . Pull the magazine out and now pull back the slide, if it locks open without u touching the slide lock lever,,,, u have the slide lock lever in wrong.

Yes, the spring may be in the wrong place.
Also, clean all oil out of the magazines.

Hello lowhook and welcome to Kahrtalk....Sorry to hear of the problems but stick with us and together the good folks here will get your new baby running smooth....
The problem with the lock backs on a full magazine is you probably did bend the slide stop spring...Pull the pistol back down (it gets easier every time you do it) look at the spring and it should be parallel with the top of the frame when viewed from the side and from the top it should be straight with the frame rails...I'm betting yours will be bent in and down...Trust me, you are not the first one to do this, did it myself before I figured out how to do it and now it's a cinch...
Take some small needle nose pliers and bend the spring back into the correct position, there are pictures in the new member stickys (read them all, it helps) when you get the spring bent back into shape reassemble the gun...Line up the witness marks on the frame and slide which can be done easier by using something like a pencil stuck from the top down in the ejection port next to the breech face (I use a chinese restaurant wooden chop stick) perfect size to hold the marks together so now you have both hands to work with to get the slide stop lever back in correctly...
Now it doesn't hurt to put a dab of grease on the slide lock lever both the shaft and the part that goes under the little spring you just fixed...The secret to not bending the spring is to gently push the slide lock into the hole and to keep the lever perfectly parallel with the frame rails in a 3 o'clock position, push it stright in and it should just snick into position...
Now pull the slide back without a magazine and it shouldn't stay back...Insert an empty magazine and it should now stay back....(Tip) it's real hard to release the slide using the lever without a loaded magazine in the gun....(Tip) You may have to tweek the spring up or down just a hair to get it right so it works correctly...After you get it working call Kahr and tell them you need a new spring so you will have a spare but it will take a good bit of bending before it will break so dont think you have to change it out just because you bent it a little to get it back into shape...
Now for the FTF problem, may be several things but since your gun has been back to Kahr once and you still are having issues be REAL sure you aren't limp wristing it...The gun needs a real tight grip and a steady platform for the recoil to force out the empty brass and cycle in a new round...These guns are super tight from the factory so just shooting some new (not range reloads) FMJ rounds should cycle the gun and make it function....
Don't give up on the gun, it's a real nice pistol and the folks here will be glad to help you get it running...Let us know what you find out when you look at the spring....Good luck...
