Hi guys,
As you can see, I'm new here. Just brought my little cm40 home yesterday. After watching videos, reading the manual, cleaning the mags out.. I decided to play. Cleaned the gun. Lubed. Racked the slide 200+ times (two raw hands to prove it)...
First- the slide lock pin seemed to come out pretty smoothly the first couple times. After that, it's a bear. It has A hard time lining up or something. It's really a pita. Then when I put it back together, it doesn't function like it should, without me pressing on the slide lock a few times, then it seems to be okay. At first, I can't pull back the slide at all. It's weird.
Secondly- if I pull the trigger quickly, it seems to break just fine, but if I squeeze it- there's a delay. Ive never experienced this before on a pistol. I cleaned out the firing pin area with brake cleaner to make sure it's not gummed up. Followed it up with compressed air.
I'm not complaining, I was really fired up about all the great things I've read. It seems like I've just got a couple quirks to be worked out.
I'm not new to firearms, but this is my first kahr.
Any thoughts are much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Tim

Sounds like it worked just fine until you field stripped the gun and put it back together again. That should be a hint as to what's possibly went wrong. Maybe you should give that take down video another look. Be sure that the recoil spring assembly and slide stop pin are inserted properly.

Thanks Muggsy,
Indeed I screwed up the little spring at the slide release lever. That part is fine. After cleaning the gun again, re-lubing... still a delay or even non-fire. I played with it a little and found that if it's warm, even slightly above room temperature- it fires (dry fires) better. Once it cools back off, issues. After additional searches, it sounds like this has happened before. My little CM is on it's way back to Kahr. Kind of disappointed, but there's no way I could trust it like this.

Welcome to kahrtalk jigsaw290, sorry to hear about the issues with your new CM40...Not sure if you still have the gun but if so did you put any type of oil or lube down into the polymer frame part? The slow trigger break thing is new to me and the part about room temp being ok but then getting a delayed release when cold sounds somehing like too much lube or trash gumming up the lock works...
You really dont need to lube anything in the frame other than just a tiny drop on the sliding trigger bar and even that isn't really necessary....If you did put oil down into the frame/trigger area try blasting all that out with some spray cleaner and let it dry and if you can use some compressed air blow it out real good then reassemble the gun and see if that helps...
Not sure if thats the problem but several folks have commented that their new pistol and magazine was full of some kind of heavy lube coating from the factory so it may be there is some left over crud down in the frame causing a problem...
Good luck and if this doesn't help then let Kahr fix it and they should send you a prepaid form to FedEx it back to them...I am curious about this problem so let us know how it works out and what fixes it..

When you gun comes back from Kahr it should work perfectly. After you put 200 rounds through the gun you'll forget that it ever had a problem. Enjoy your gun.

I feel your pain. My new CM9 had issues right out of the box -- different from yours -- and it wasn't until Kahr sent me a new recoil spring, and I bent the slide-stop spring into proper shape and I put more than 400 rounds through it that the pistol began to fire reliably. I've put thousands through it since with no problems. Kahr has good customer service and will make it right for you. But I know how it feels right now, brother.
