Now I see the new buzz is that Springfield is coming out with the XDS 4.0 as far I as I can see only in 9mm right now. Same grip size as the standard as the XDS 3.3 but longer barrel sound like a covert to me. I really like the XDM Compact in 45 that I have, so when they come out with the XDS 45 4.0 I will be looking at them very closely and giving them time to work out the bugs and on that note I saw Kahr shows the CM45 on there site, so that is a reality now. So with so much to look and choose from the next gun purchase may be hard. XOXO don’t know anymore

Heard 1911's have a grip safety and I think they have been out for awhile

100 plus years or so.
Some people don't get along with them, I don't even notice them and they work with my hands.
I know a couple big time instructors and my SEAL buddy has a clip to hold his down. Does it on all his 1911's and he has numerous. His hand just doesn't always get it down.

I hate safeties period. As Eric Bana said in Blawk Hawk Down...

Colt 1911 A-1s are carried cocked and locked. Hammer back round in chamber. The grip safety prevents the gun from going off if the gun is dropped and the manual safety is off. Grip safeties are totally unnecessary in striker fired gun. In striker fired guns the striker block serves as the same function as the grip safety. Guns with single action triggers are inherently more accurate than guns with long double action triggers. Double action triggers can be mastered with practice. It's a matter of personal preference the type of action chosen. One isn't any better than the other.

Me too....just lock my down with a 1/2 wide strip of bicycle inner tube. Never think about it after that.

Don't particularly like them [more moving parts] but they've never been an issue for me. Never thought about locking them down.

I've got about 15 handguns.
Having an external safety on a handgun is usually a deal breaker for me.
Did buy two HKs with safeties.
But also had OEM LEM kits to remove them - LOL.
My only pistol with an external safety is my AK Suchka.
And that 5.5 lbs 10.5" barreled 5.56 wamma jamma doesn't really count.
After initially being in the knee jerk hater category as a young person, I came to appreciate grip safeties on properly built 1911s a few decades ago. I'm a cocked and locked kinda guy. It's only design I've been able to tolerate them on, though.

Grip saftey is not an issue with me. Most of my guns have them. 5 1911s and 2 springfields. I don't realize they are there.
I'm another who can't abide by mechanical safetys. Prefer the DA/SA of my Sig P220 over a 1911 with grip safety.
