PM9 or PM45

Looking for pictures of a pm9 and pm45 for comparsion. Side by side and on top of each other. I saw some on here but cant find that thread. My wife liked my pm9 so much its her's so either for me it will be the pm9 and share mags or the pm45. I dont know if size of the 45 for pocket carry will make harder, cause the pm9 fits perfect or well it use too.

I think you can punch in Kahrseye under search and post and the picture of his will show up. I think the PM45 is just enough bigger that it wouldn't make a great pocket gun like the PM9. I think some people do. I don't pocket carry anything sitting full time but many prefer that method.
Either would serve you well, I'm somewhat biased toward bigger is better, pebbles versus bricks but don't let me influence your decision. That PM9 is a great gun and theres a plus to familiarity for both you and your wife as well as stocking just the one size ammo.

I think this is a case where you should better shoot a PM45 before making any leap. What happens when the gun goes bang! is rather different than with a 9mm. The short barrel makes it a different experience than any bigger .45 you may have shot previously. My experience is actually 9mm versus .40S&W. The .40 is probably a bit more snappy than the .45. I am just saying that the shooting experience will be quite different and could prove to be troubling.

Good thought and valid points. The 40 is indeed a little beast by it's very nature. Given the choice I much prefer my PM45 over my K40. Given that the K40 is probably twice the weight (I didn't check the specs) it really shouldn't be so. Even magna ported it still bucks a bit. Not punishing and I don't mind shooting it, just talking felt or perceived recoil. The PM45 will clearly let you know when it goes off but I have no comfort issues with it, could easily shoot it all day, well all day is a long time for for quite a spell.
I've not shot a PM9 as yet although theres a couple around here so I should be able to pretty soon. I'm sure it's quite manageable. Anyhow if you can find one to try it surely wouldn't hurt anything.

If you're going to "pocket carry" I would think that you would be better off with the PM9. Apart or together, the PM9 and PM45 look about the same size. I have a Minituck I got for my PM9 and I carry the PM45 in it. If I can carry the PM9, I can carry the PM45 at about 4 ounces more. But I'm not going to try to put the 45 in my pocket! I don't like pocket carry for a lot of reasons. A biggy is it knocking around in my shorts pockets which hang below the shorts when sitting or running.
Here are some pix of the PM9 and PM45. The first is of the two broken down to major parts. In the 4th the PM45 has the 6-round extended grip that I only use at the range or when it's available at home for use. I use the 5-round for CCW and carry an extended grip 7-round mag (T45), not shown here, for a reload. The extended grip pokes me less.
The last photo has the P380 lying on top. I will usually be carrying the P380 or the PM45. The PM9 is kind of a spare, but a nice one.
With 6+1 the PM9 weighs 19.65 ounces and the PM45 with 5+1 weighs about 23.4 ounces. Bullets: 124-gr and 230-gr, respectively.

a bit misleading from the angle. The PM45 is "maybe" 1/16" thicker
than the PM9. (Meaning side to side grip thickness).
If you're hands are big enough for the PM9 then I guarantee you
the PM45 will feel just fine. However, what makes it non-viable
as a pocket carry gun is the longer slide and grip.

I pocket carried my CW9 for a year before I got the PM45. The PM is slightly shorter in length and the grip height, but about 1/10 inch thicker. I have no problem in a pants or jacket pocket, unless I'm wearing fairly tight jeans - and I'm skinny.

My M&P 40c is my EDC but during the summer with shorts I perfer the weight and size of the Kahr. We will be going to the range on monday, she will decide if she wants to keep it or not. She definetly likes the weight but grip is a little short. I got another 7 round mag for her to use also.
