cw9 mag falls out

i recently purchased a cw9. first time at range i shot a hundred rounds had no issues, loved the gun. second time first shot mag falls out.i am not accidently hitting the mag release button.this happened about 50% of the time.any advice? thanks

Make sure that the mag is fully seated. If it is, replace the mag release.

hello caliba and welcome to Kahrtalk...Like Muggsy said you need a new mag release catch and spring assembly...This is a known problem and can be fixed pretty easily...Call Kahr and tell the rep what the issue is and that you are a Kahrtalk member and hopefully they will send you a new one and we can talk you through installing it....I found Kahrtalk back in 2009 for this very same reason, folks here helped me fix it and until the day I traded it in on a PM40 the magazine never came out again unless I pushed the release button...

Lately Kahr seems to be telling folks just to send in their guns for repair rather than sending out parts so if that is what they offer just ask for a return ship label and let them fix it under warranty...

hi thanks for advice,the kahr rep insisted that the mag release catch and spring probs are not an issue on my new cw9. he is sending me a label to send it back on warranty. i love this gun for ccw, and hope the problems dont continue, i feal naked without this in my pocket. if i buy a 1 month old cw40 will kahr honor the warranty on this used gun. thanks for the friendly welcome.

Sounds to me like the "Rep" probably doesn't know what he's talking about and of late they seem to want the gun back rather than send out parts.....Oh well let them fix it and eat the shipping....If you have a slightly used Kahr with problems just go with don't ask, don't tell....Unfortunately it seems Kahr has so many guns coming back for problems they should have fixed before sale that they can't possibly figure out it's a used gun and even then they should fix it for free.....

if u hae not sent it back yet shoot it left handed and see if it duplicates the issue. Then insert a loadsed magazine and look on that right side and see how that mag release button lines up wotht he frame. It should be flus, as if nutting was in the gun. If it is not then it is not seating all the way.

While ur at it, when loaded with a full magazine see how the floor pate fits with the relation to the bottom of the mag well. There has to be a slight gap there to. Strange that it did OK the first 100 rounds and then decided to go south oun u.If u can insert a loaded magazine and then physically cannot pull it out then, well I won't say shooter error either but it is a possablity. also check ur magazine follower to see that it is not broken.
