We finally had some nice weather, so I took the CW380 out and ran through my first 100 rounds using Federal American Eagle FMJ 95gr. My son and I took turns shooting two magazines each until we went through two boxes. The CW380 performed flawlessly. We were shooting from 7 yrds, and accuracy was a breeze with this pistol. It handles so well for such a small pistol, you feel like you're shooting a larger gun.
In full disclosure, I (not my son) had two FTFs. In both instances, I rode the slide with my thumb and have the rash to prove it. So, I'm calling it CW380 100% reliable. Shooter 2% grip error. In full disclosure, my son also outshot me. Dang those young bucks with their great eye sight and steady hands! ;) I thought surely he would flench going from the BB pistol to a real pistol, but nope. He was punching holes in the bullseyes about twice as often as I was.
He also bought some cheap Walmart Dr. Thunder in the aluminum cans and shook those up. They make great targets. It's always fun watching things explode on impact.
I don't know if it was the prep work before shooting (thanks guys for the guides!) or if Kahr has made some tweaks on the CW380 based on feedback from the P380, or a combo of the two, but it is running right.
After I get through the recommended 200 rounds using my American Eagle, I'm going to start trying some different brands of cheaper FMJ ammo, and then begin the expensive process of reliability testing defensive ammo. I'll likely use Buffalo Bore Barnes TAC-XP +P.
