A detective at work brought in this picture.

It's his grandfather taken in 1913 with a 1911 in his hand. I came unglued when I saw it.
He had it blown up and copied and gave me one.

Very cool. Love this stuff.

That IS cool! he's shooting a state of the art weapon (only 2 years old)
Imagine if he could see they are still produced 100+ years later!

I've often wondered what John M. would think about so many of his designs still being in use. Great photo.

That's something to put on the wall. His stance is what I was taught as a kid and the one I used when qualifying for my CCW using Dad's 1911. The instructor looked me over and after shooting 100% told me he hadn't seen that in many years. I've changed it a bit since. God bless dads and granddads.

Nice pic B... So much history for one gun.

Reminds me of the news story I heard yesterday about Medal Of Honor Recipient, John McGinty who just passed away... At one point in the battle he used his 1911 to kill 5 enemy soldiers at point blank range!

I had the pleasure of meeting John McGinty shortly before I retired from active duty. Rest in Peace Marine, Semper Fidelis.

Here's an interesting story about his 1911:

That's an awesome Greg. Thanks for the link.
He must have been some man. Love how he knew the serial# off the top of his head, so glad it was returned to him.

You're welcome:)

BTW, that's an excellent photo Bawanna, thanks for sharing it:yo:
That frame is pretty nice as well; I especially like the barb wire accent. Did you make that?

Greg

Actually a retiring sgt who retired Dec 31st, took it and had one framed for each of us. Mine had the barb wire, the other was a little different. We figured to get him stuff, did get him a hunting rifle but he got us stuff too.

It's pretty cool. The detective this summer on a nice summer day is gonna reenact that photo. The William in the picture was # 1, his uncle was #2 and the detective is # 3. Since there was an uncle he's not really a 3rd but he is in the family.

A guy walked into a crowded bar, waving his model 1911 Colt
.45 caliber pistol with an 8 round magazine, and yelled, "Who
in here has been sleeping with
my wife?"

A voice from the back of the bar yelled back, "You need more
ammo."
