Was browsing through a local box store and noticed the CW380 was in stock. Had to take a peak, I had an LCP, hated firing it, and wasn't sure I'd want the mrs to try it as she's kinda sensitive to recoil (doesn't shoot much).
We had a few P238s which were great shooters, but neither of us liked having a manual safety on a pocket gun.
Looked at the CW380, and the guy at the shop mentioned that the CW380 is a much softer shooting pocket gun than most others.
Said I'd take one (they always have at least 2 or 3 in stock if its in the display case).
Came back and said it was the last one. Original price was $339.99, said because it was the floor model I could have it for $299 + tax.
Done deal.
Unfortunately they had no 380 FMJ or JHP ammo in stock but said he should have some when I go back in 48 hrs to pick it up. We'll see on that, but I am very eager to try this little 380 out!
I could almost carry the darn thing in my wallet its so thin!

Nice! Welcome, Kahr's are nice guns. I always want to buy more, once you hold one it's hard to go back.

Awesome, best of luck and enjoy!
I paid way too much today for a PM40 with black diamond slide and night sights. Well below retail but much more than I've ever paid for a handgun.
But I wanted it!!! Lol...

Making dinner in the kitchen tonight when I realized my wife came downstairs. Only then did I remember I was wearing my P45 in an OWB holster.
I never told her that I bought it back in September...
Uh oh. Time to justify expenses to the wifey!:40::eek:

Lol... I handle the family expenses so I can budget and buy when justified... to myself. The keep away game to follow can be exhausting! ;-)

Great price, and the previous shoppers have already helped you do the initial break-in. ;) If you take the time while you're waiting on ammo to hand rack it a few hundred more times and clean out all of the oil Kahr likes to ship their guns with and re-lube, you'll be ahead of the curve. There are some great guides in the stickies that you're probably already familiar with. I followed them and didn't have any problems out the gate with my CW380 as long as I did my part.
I hear ya about the wallet! :)

The P380 is a joy to shoot and all of the things are in the right place: mag release, slide lock, real sights... the same manual of arms for its bigger brethren... or sisters!
It correctly lacks all of the non-essential things, too... no safety or no magazine safety... or external hammer. Just load +1 and it's good to go. It won't fire unless you pull the trigger with that long smooth, well-tuned revolver-like pull.

dorangolv, that's funny. My CW .45 is a secret from my wife. I'm glad she doesn't know the difference between my CW .40 and .45 so its not a problem when I bring it out to clean it.

for 299 u stole that gun. Please do the prep thing noted n the kahr tech section. It will mae ur first session a fun one. By the way I would be very surprised if ur wife can hand rack that gun to, so make her/train her to use the slide lock release lever to load the gun or ur gonna have issues with the wife and the gun mating up right..Just sayin
Hell of a price on that cw380.

Meant to say she hated the recoil of the LCP so am hoping the CW 380 is a little softer..

If the Kahr doesn't work out for your wife (I hope it does) then you might trade the LCP towards the newer Ruger LC380. I've seen some videos and it looks like the bigger Ruger .380 is way soft shooting.

That's funny. My wife doesn't know all the guns I have anymore but she does know what I carry.
What I have to watch is when I order bulk ammo, scopes, parts, etc..., I need to be home when UPS arrives to snag it before she see's the price because whatever I spent she spends equal amount (or most likely even more  ) besides what she already spends anyway.

She's not recoil sensitive by any means, she's fired tons of guns over the last few years including a buddies 500 Mag..
She just didn't think she'd be comfortable with the LCP if god forbid she had to use it. Also the manipulation of the LCP wasn't really to her liking.
We had a few Sig P238s and we both loved them. If the CW380 shoots as nicely (softly) as those she'll be happy. It dawned on us one day that we both didn't like the idea of a manual safety on a pocket gun.
Plans were to each get a CM9 after selling the CW9 and a couple other guns we'll never carry or miss having but basically we saw the CW380, and he only had one left.
We can pick it up tomorrow night, so possibly tomorrow it'll get to the range.

If you make it to the range, I hope you'll let us know your and your wife's impression of the CW380. The CW380 is the first Kahr I've owned, and I'm enjoying mine. If you've been shooting the P238 recently, it will be a bit of adjustment with the Kahr trigger, but after a few magazines, I suspect you'll like it. I think the long trigger and no safety is ideal for pocket carry. For me, at least, it has a soft recoil and quick recovery. I have mainly used .40 SW, so it feels like a BB gun compared to that. ;)
You/your wife may like a grip installed on the CW380. I by no means have soft hands, but after hand racking the slide 500 times, my hand that squeezed the grip was sore the next day, and while shooting, I could feel a little bite each time I fired. If I hadn't made my hand sore the previous night, I doubt I would have noticed with only 50-100 rounds shot. I went ahead and installed Talon (rubber) grips. They are inexpensive and fit well, and I like how it feels. It is grippier and takes away all bite from the hard polymer nubs.

I have a new cw9 and like it so far after 100 rounds. My wife just got her permit and wants something for her purse. I was thinking of the cw380 for her. She has shot my 38 special revolver a couple times and commented that it kicked hard. So I'm wondering about how the cw380 would stack up against the 38 special, which is maybe too big for her purse with the kitchen sink and bowling ball she carries in there.

Going to try to get there tomorrow, supposed to be cold out so shooting indoors might be something to break the cabin fever..lol
Picked up out CW380 tonight, just so happened that they had a Glock 42 in stock, had to look at that. Very nice but the small size and trigger on the Kahr sold us on it.
I used to have a CW9, we're used to the triggers. I borrowed a buddies' PM9 last time and used it for the "battleship" shooting competition.. Couldn't believe the accuracy.. Sold off out CW9 a long time ago, but picked up right where I left off with my accuracy with Kahrs..lol
Always a used Kahr or two floating around in my neck of the woods. I had been looking into an MK9, but I think I want to hold out at find a used K9 or K40..
Will post a range report with the CW380, Cabelas was sold out of 380 so we have to try a few other places tomorrow..

Good luck on your ammo search. I have had zero luck finding any in the large stores except defensive rounds. A few smaller firearms dealers have had some. About everything I've found locally has been about 50 cents a round. Oh, for the good ol' days when you could pick up 50 rounds for $5, then $10, then ...

Having two different guns that look alike.
That is pure, evil genius.

In Florida there's an in between option. The Shoot Straight chain operates nice indoor range/gun stores in 8 cities now. They usually have range ammo in stock, including .380.
I've been stopping in about once a week recently since getting the P380. I shoot a box or more, and try to keep two on hand. So far they've not been out twice in a row. Yesterday they had Magtech, nice ammo, $20 box of 50.

The Shoot Straight in West Palm Beach is nice. They were out of 9mm after Sandy Hook but usually are well stocked.

I've turned to buying ammo online, although I do cruise the local gun stores and will buy if they have what I need. Here are two sites that give current prices and availability:

Recently an LGS in my area has Blazer Brass .380 for 17.99 everyday. Walmart always has WWB but a little pricey at almost 23 a box. But always tons of it. Can find PMC Bronze pretty easily as well
