I received my new cw9 a few days ago and cleaned/lubed it per the great help here. I had purchased a used mag at my dealer and when I cleaned it and the new one I found the spring in backwards on the used mag. Reassembly of the recoil spring and rod was very tough, but you guys had warned me that things would be very tight. I'm getting older and my hand strength isn't what it used to be, but I still haven't found a pickle jar I couldn't defeat.:D Spent the next 2 nights racking the slide to soften the spring a bit. Needed gloves because the slide grooves are very aggressive. The range trip went very well. Emptied a full 100 round Winchester white box fmj with only 2 blips. The first load out of the 3rd mag made a nosedive FTL, but I believe it was my fault. The other blip was a brain failure when I let the thumb ride a little high. Sporting a new band aid today.:( There is no doubt I will want to replace the tiny front sight with a Big Dot, although accuracy was very good, despite my 100 year old eyes.:p I have large fingers and I noticed sometimes the flesh of my trigger finger gets pinched by the sharp upper edge of the trigger. Any fix for this? The grip checkering is also a bit aggressive for me, so today I ordered a new Hogue jr. grip, and a 3rd mag from Midway. The mags are on clearance sale for $20 which is what I paid for the used one.
The recoil spring was much better this cleaning, and I know it will improve further after more shooting . I did inadvertently spray some Napa brake cleaner on the rear sight removing the white bar.
Overall, I'm thrilled with the cw9, my first semi-auto.:cheer2:
