Here's a good review with a very favorable comparison of the Kahr P380 to the G42:

The G42 may look small, but it's HUGE next to the P380, let alone the Ruger LCP, Keltecs, and Tauri, etc.

I'll pass on this one... too large! He does compare the G42 to the PM9 as well as a bunch of .380's.

I pass on all of them...............................

I handled one locally and was not impressed. It is thin, but way too big for the role it is intended. As pointed out, the P380 is tiny in comparison. A PM9 would be a better choice in the size range of the 42, and give you a more effective caliber.

I've been wearing my PM9 in an Uncle Mike's holster around the house the last few days, as I haven't gotten around to cleaning the P380 since taking it and a few others to the range Friday.

It's ALMOST as unnoticeable as the P380.

If Glock had made it in a 9mm than it would give everybodies a run for their money including Kahr's 9mm. IMHO

Yea I'll take a cm9/pm9 all day long over it.

Thanks. Really enjoy his reviews. Feel he does an even handed job of pointing out both the pros and the cons.

I've only a few pair of trousers having small pockets or made out of material that makes it unwise, for me, to pocket my PM9. I'll switch to my .380 with those few trousers. If I'm going to belt carry I'll generally go with my .45 as opposed to my PM9. If I could only keep one carry gun it would definately be my PM9. BTW, I do like Glocks.

Interesting that Hickock said the PM9 was one of his carry weapons.

I actually thought that Hickock did a very nice job in reviewing the Glock 42. Actually it was funny when he mentioned it was 25 years late at the beginning of the video. At least has not been gushing over it like some of the other YouTube videos. .380 is a good round if your taking out zombie squirrels but for human sized targets is really is not that powerful imho. I too would rather have a 9mm but that will probably take another 25 years to get.

I thoroughly enjoy Hickock45's videos. He gives a fair, unbiased evaluation of the firearm, whether its a favorite, or something he doesn't really care for.
The Glock 42 doesn't appeal to me. It looks like it should be a 9mm looking at the length of it, maybe if they sell enough of them, they'll come out with one in 9mm.
I'd stick with a Kahr PM/CM 9 over the Glock 42 any day. The .380 just doesn't appeal to me.

I handled a G42 today. Nice gun. I bet it will sell like hotcakes.

I'll just stick with my P380... my PM9... my P9... my P40... and my PM45, though I'll part with the all stainless K9. I'd still like a P45, too. I've grown to like the P-sized polymers.

I do have the Glock family for heavier work. :59:

What is the advantage of the G42 over a PM9?

I don't see any... unless you're just a Glock FAN. I think the PM9 is about as small as a 9mm can get and be fun to shoot with full-sized gun features.

Hickock did give some nice praise to his Kahr 380. :)

Agreed Hickok is honest an truthful. Unlike a pair of internet dolts one at NutnFancy and Gunblast. The former is an opinionated fool and the latter never met a gun he did not praise to the high heavens.

I like how when he really enjoys shooting and is shooting well, he gives a little laugh. You can tell when he's enjoying a firearm. I can almost hear his mind saying, "Man, that was a fine shooting gun!" He's probably done it more than a few times, but I remember specifically him doing that with the Kahr P380 and the SA XDS. I keep waiting for him to do a follow-up video to see if he still likes the trigger on his XDS after the recall fix.

Hickock did post a follow up today after getting his XDS back from Springfield. Pretty good video and very informative.

I'll stick with my P380. MUCH smaller. My 'new' PM9 isn't much bigger. I've played with my brother's Glocks, and while I shot well with them, I think I made the right choice. I'll bet once he tries mine, he'll buy one as his EDC. (waiting for his injured hand to heal). You know how sibling rivalry is. :-)

What is the advantage of the G42 over a PM9?

I have not shot the G42 and have no plans to buy one. But, I think the advantage would be that it is a soft-shooter. So, for those with aging hands, arthritic hands, or generally recoil sensitive, I would guess that this gun would be more comfortable to shoot than a snappy sub-compact.

I watched maybe 4 or 5 of his review videos today. He is fun to watch and does give a good honest review. Man can he shoot some long distances with a small pistol.

Looks like he's been making youtube videos for a while.

Gotta to love the fact that the man has his own shooting range. I would kill to have a piece of land like that. Just walk out the back door and bam shoot whenever you want.

So why aren't the people that jumped all over me for comparing my CM9 to my LCP jumping all over Hicock45 for comparing a 9mm to a 380.
