The bad news is even at Walmart it was $50.98 for 50 cowboy lead round nose........They had 10 boxes, bought 1 box to have new brass to reload....Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think pistol shooting would get to a buck a pop...

I'm in the same boat with my S&W 329 Nightguard. I found 44 mag at a gun show for $33 for 50. At the range 44 mag is $43 & 44 special is $50. All this is jacketed HP.
There's a company in Fl thats offering 45LC in standard loads, plated 225g bullets, for $15/25

I'm sure glad I was able to scrounge "enough" brass a couple of years ago when I traded for my Ruger SRH (and picked up the Rossi R92 last year) for reloading. Not sure how many hundreds of .44 mag I've sent down range in those two years, but haven't bought the first box of factory ammo yet. I got a box of old Fiocci in the original trade and ordered .44 dies the same day as the trade. My reloads tend to cost between $18-20 per box ... about half the shelf price of what we see locally for "target grade". Not a whole lot of difference in the reload cost of .44 mag and .45 LC .... ain't reloading a real blessing :)
