View Full Version : 3 Mags for 2014 with Kahr "Premium" guns
If you look at the new Kahr brochure (http://www.kahr.com/Brochures-Manuals.asp) (the one with the babe, upper left) you will see they are offering 3 magazines with their "premium" guns. This only is for guns shipped in 2014. Unfortunately for me last week I was trying to purchase a MK40 w/NS here in the Seattle area and the dealer's distributor only has a 2013 version with 2 mags. He cannot/will not order any 2114's until he gets rid of the one in stock.
I talked to the CS guy with the British accent at Kahr to see if they would be willing to comp me a magazine. This would get me what I wanted and allow this distributor to order more product. Was told no way. I left messages with some other folks in the company but no return calls yet.
The dealer has had no luck either.
If Kahr is just interested in the next sale and not interested in establishing a relationship with a repeat customer I'd say the are on the right track, although in my case they may get neither.
It is a real shame because my new PM9 has functioned without a single hitch with over 700 rounds through it and I believe it is the near perfect deep conceal gun. I was interested in their other products. But to tell the truth I believe the PM9 is their only truly unique product and the fine example that I have is all I really need from them.
A Kimber or a Glock are beginning to look a lot more attractive.
So it goes.

Is this serious? You won't do business with Kahr again if they don't give you a free magazine? Wow!

It seem like Kahr should be able to send a magazine. If the new guns come with three. Call it retro active for anyone that that bought a new old stock model after the change to three.

Like I said, I already have what I consider their most useful piece, the PM9, a light weight, concealable powerhouse. Most of their other guns are made as well or better by other manufactures.
Granted, I'm pissed about their attitude but have not ruled out the MK40, yet. Will see what my attitude is in a few days.

Sorry Jim, but I don't get it.
Seems to me if Kahr caved to every sad story wanting to be comped for a free mag, they'd spend all their time shipping free mags and no time designing, manufacturing and shipping cool new products. I've got a 12 year old P9, CM9 and CW380 and have never had a single problem with Kahr. And when I ordered an extra mag for my CW380, I had it in three days. And that's what I call customer service.
Anyway, good luck with your dilemma.
So Kahr has a promotion for 2014, and here it is three weeks or so into the year, and there's a complaint that the stock the dealer has on hand for a four weeks (at minimum) isn't covered.
Here's what I know - if the dealer was making any money, he'd throw the magazine in on his own to keep you happy. He's not doing that, so he probably isn't making much money. Just sayin'. And sayin' that I'd do most anything to keep folks happy, and coming back.

It is not like Kahr is only giving 2 mags with a new gun. I know some guns that are only being sold with ONE mag.

its calls like this to customer service that makes it hard to get them to listen to real calls
Unless they have raised their price for 2014, it is not a "free" magazine. Why should I pay the same price for the same gun and 2 magazines when the next purchaser will get the same gun and 3 magazines. So either I wait till someone else purchases the 2 mag deal or I move on. Once again, this is assuming the price has not gone up.
My point of the post was this was the first I saw of the new product policy (it doesn't look like a promotion) and there are likely others who would like to know about the 3rd mag. I'm sure there are still a few 2 mag packages out there for those who want them. ;)

Your LGS should knock $30 off the price of the 2013 model to move the old stock. That way you could afford to buy a 3d mag if you want one, though personally I'd just keep the money.

So true. I doubt I could be real friendly if I had to deal with calls like this all the time. We have truly become an entitlement society I guess.

Why should he? It is all about supply and demand. If it is so great selling guns and owning a store you should open one. He has to pay his bills and still make a profit. No profit=no local gun shop.

Holy crap! I only thought that liberals expected something for nothing. How 'bout doing something for the economy and buying a spare mag? Damn liberals.

The Seattle dealer is not the only one in town, or even on the internet. Shop around if 3 mags is a deal breaker.

Thanks, but I'm in another line of work.
Anyway, the answer is the same reason car dealers discount at the end of a model year. It's all about moving the merch. The gun is not doing the dealer any good sitting on the shelf. Lot of these guys are penny wise & pound foolish. Others are smart and have probably cleared out last year's inventory already.

Sorry, this complaint makes no sense to me. This isn't like Obamacare, if you don't like your dealer, you don't have to keep your dealer. Kahr's policies have nothing to do with this.
I don't plan on calling Kahr about the gun I purchased 4 years ago and ask for the magazine upgrade.
I would also bet if the OP ordered a new, 2014 Kahr, and paid up front, the dealer would place the order for him.
Thanks, but I'm in another line of work.

Thanks for clarifying the point I was trying to make.

Please read the first paragraph of my first post.

As for the idea that I'm trying to get something "free", the price of the MK40 with night sights is $790.00 plus 9.5% sales tax, of which I've put down a $300.00 deposit. Hardly "free".
This would be on top of the $710.00 plus tax I paid for the PM9 I purchased 2 weeks ago (http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=22167) and then spent another $33.00 (free shipping) for a 6 round mag from Amazon. I'm not asking to be comped for the previous purchase, just for the purchase of the MK40 that I'm trying to make.
Enough said.

It really is pretty simple.....if you don't like his price don't buy it from him. Go buy one somewhere else.

Must be all that rain out there.
Kahr should have executed the promotion in a different manner, imho.
It should have been an online/mail-in offer. Show your sales recept, and fill out a form (with all sorts of personal and very marketable information on it) and you get a free mag. That could have applied to all sales, regardless of stock. And, it would even out in the end. That is to say, should Kahr lose a few mags to older stock on the shelves, they'll gain a few from stock left on shelves when the promotion is over.
So there.

The MK40 you are trying to buy apparently shipped sometime before 2014 with only 2 magazines. Just like the 2 Kahr pistols I bought in 2013. Should I call Kahr and demand two free magazines for the two Kahr pistols I bought in 2013? GTFO!
Enough said.

I've been slapped around before. This ain't my first rodeo. I have infinite patience with children, but no patients for adults who act like children. On average a gun shop makes about $25 on a gun sale and another $20 - $25 on a background check. He was happy with the deal when he received 2 mags with his gun and now he's upset because someone else is getting three. It's a new model year. He should get over it.
