So still on my quest for another carry gun. I already own a kahr CM9. And I would LOVE and MK9 or a K9. Just cant decide.
If I were to get an MK9, would there be any point in keeping my CM9? I know I should keep both, but because of funds. I could use the cash I have saved up sell the CM9 and buy an MK9 Elite. Or just wait longer and save more and buy a K9. I just dont see the point in having two micro pistols.
Or just buy an M&P 40c since I have always wanted one of those too. :)

There's room in any mans wardrobe for more than one micro. While both are similar in size and near identical in controls (a good thing), the CM will have a pretty large weight advantage for some applications.
Given my choice of the two I would opt for the MK despite it's extra weight. I just like them better.
That being said I ankle carry my PM45 over my K9 and K40. If I were to belt carry I suspect I'd probably lean more towards the K's although they ride fine on the ankle too so can't really justify my own thinking and I'm probably not helping your much either.
I do feel your pain. You want to keep both but the funds dictate downsizing one to get the other. Kind of a rob Peter to pay Paul scenario or the bawanna biography since that's the story of my life.

I have a mk9 & a mk40 so I am guilty of being impractical.

When you have the money, its not impractical. Just in the process of saving for a house.

I have both a CM9 and a K9. Would I buy an MK9? I doubt it. The CM9 serves as a summer EDC, the K9 serves as a rest of the year and all time favorite EDC. I love both but the K9 is so doggone sweet to shoot. Just feels right in the hand and hits where I point. I could be persuaded to part with the CM9 under the right scenario. You'll have to pry the K9 from my cold stiff fingers.

I love my MK40 Elite.
It's a keeper for sure!
But it can be a little heavy in the pocket in some pants.
Really prefer my air-weight J-frame for pocket carry.
The MK rides sweet on a belt though.
What does all that mean to you?
I think you may regret losing the CM9 for pocket carry.
And in retrospect, on a belt, I would have rather went with a K40 Elite or T40 .
But that's just me...

I would never give up my MK9. I would sell the CM9, get an MK9, save up and get a T9 or T40 in stainless. After that, I would turn to Sig or Beretta http://kahrtalk.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Well I dont and wont pocket carry. My attire does not allow me to pocket carry. So with that being said I would mostly be belt carrying with the exception if I bought an ankle holster.

Mk's carry well both ways..............I front pocket carry, and the weight doesn't bother me.................I would think it would carry like a dream on the ankle, or OWB, IWB.

I have both the MK9 and K9. If I had to keep only one, it would be the K9. Both are great, though.

I agree with Barth - my MK40 is too heavy for pocket carry except perhaps in a reinforced jacket pocket. That's why I have a PM9. However, if I were ever forced to reduce my collection, the MK40 would be about the last to go. The only thing better would be an MK45.

I wan't both, but wan't the MK9 more. I already have a CW9 so I guess that is part of the reason I wan't the MK9 more.
My question is, is the elite any better than just the Mk9.....

IMHO the answer is yes.
Part ascetics, part function and worth every penny.
Elite 2003
The polished stainless steel finish and laser etching on the frame are available on all Kahr Elite 2003 pistols - the K9, MK9, K40 and the MK40.
The lustrous finish complements our innovative designs and solid construction.
The magazine well is beveled for easier magazine reloading.
The feed ramp on the barrel is polished to a high luster to insure reliable feeding with all types of ammo.
Laser engraving on the frame provides the finishing touch to the polished stainless steel -
for an appearance as impressive as its capabilities.

Both of my mk's are the standard ones. Both have mirror polished feedramps. My mk 40 for some reason has the beveled mag well & really the bevel is so minor I can't feel the difference between the two when inserting the mag. To me the difference between standard & elite is cosmetic but I do like the look of the elite.

First you need to ask yourself how you are most likely to carry. If pocket, then keep the CM9 ... but if any other way, sell it and buy an MK9 or K9. As for which, it's hard to say ... as both carry pretty easily. If someone said I had to keep only one I don't know what I'd do. My MK9 is a Limited Edition which makes it special to me ... but my E9 (cheap K9) is a great all around gun.

I prefer an MK9 to a K9 but both are great. I recommend you start looking for both...USED. Then take whatever you can find for the best deal. You will be extremely happy with either.

The reason I have both an MK9 and a CM9 is because the magazines are interchangeable. A loaded magazine can be inserted into either gun. The MK9 is for belt carry in a good holster. The CM9 is for pocket carry. When you want to carry 2 guns, put the MK9 on your belt, put the CM9 into a pocket holster and away you go with multiple guns and plenty of ammo for either one.:D

IMHO, your needs are met. Save and purchase your house first, then get a K9 when you can.

Although Kahr doesn't mention it.
I believe the Elite has a slight melted treatment as well.
