I am planning on buying another pistol here soon. Having a hard time choosing between the three. Mp fits better in my hand but Glock is a Glock. New G4s have the new beaver tail to help with grip angle. The G19 is a damn good size but bigger is good. This is going to be my "battle gun". What would you choose and why.
Thanks everyone.

For a "battle gun" my vote definitely goes to G17. Not the best for CCW, but I guess you know that. I don't care much for the MP personally. I've shot a couple of them and didn't like the trigger and couldn't shoot consistent groups either. Might have gotten better with more trigger time but just didn't give me that "warm and fuzzy". I've owned Glocks for over 20 years - she might not be the prettiest girl at the dance but she'll put out every time.

In a similar boat. Thinking about my next 9. I've come down to a G17 or a CZ P-09. Can't decide. On your choices though, gotta go w/ the G17 also. I've shot an M&P as well, was not all that impressed. Not overly impressed w/ the Glocks I've shot either, but I think I like the G17 well enough to own one. I know I'd love love love the CZ P-09, but holsters and accessories are non-existent. I know its a new gun, but even older CZ models like my P-01 are tough to find stuff for.
Anyway. My thoughts are that a G19 is small enough to carry, but over a Kahr, if I had one, it'd just sit in the safe. M&P, just don't like them well enough to own one. So, get the G17.

I don't mean to be contrary or muddy the waters but of the Glocks I'd go 19 all the way. Just a great size. I've had 27's and everybody adds finger grips to the mags and basically brings them up to 19 size.
I'm not a glock fan either and would probably prefer the M&P myself but the 19 feels probably the best of all of them.
I had a 21 now for a night stand gun. I did some grip changing on it and it feels pretty decent now too.

I have a m&p 9 and LOVE it. One thing with the m&p line is the stock trigger kinda sucks. I got a apex duty trigger kit for it and made it a new gun. The trigger is so much smoother and the reset is short. That being said can't go wrong with any glock. I asked myself the same things a year ago and yes I had to spend another 100 bucks for the trigger kit but the gun and the kit was well worth the money. (Stop counting after 1000 rounds and it has never had a single problem of any kind with everything from top of the line ammo to bottom of the barrel)

My G17 is my "battle" pistol.

For your intended purpose the G17 makes the most sense to me too. My wife has been wanting a high capacity house gun, so a couple of weeks ago we went shopping. She decided the Gen4 G17 was what she wanted. She's only been to the range once with it, but is very pleased so far. The Gen4 fits her better than the Gen3, and it runs like a Glock. Mags and other accessories still seem to be easier to find for the Glocks than for the M&Ps.

I'd go with the G19 and G17 mags for battle.

I have a Gen2 17. Can't say enough good things. Great for Battle. For CC? The 19 wins. Hands down.

If you must stick to the smaller caliber instead of .4 or better, the G19 with G17 mags or G33's for reloads is a good choice. I sold my XD45 Tactical after getting a G21 SF. I got a G19 for my wife and I have .40's as well as 9mm.
My backup battle pistol is my G23C and I have Glock 22-round mags and G22 15-round mags as well as a conversion 9mm barrel for use with the plentiful G19/17 & Glock 33 mags that we have, too.
The Gen 4 G19 gives you some grip size choices and the beaver tail ones as well in the newer models.
I put the new Trijicon HD NS on all of my Glocks and prefer the yellow front-sighted ones, especially for night after pre-charging the glow dot

I already "voted" on this issue. Since about forever, my nightstand gun has been a G19 (Gen 3). It fits my hand better than Glock's full-sized frames. That being said, you should go with whatever feels best to you. Especially with your battle pistol.

i'm a Glockaholic so thats where my vote goes, but i'm not saying anything negative about the M&P.
like said from others if the 19 fits your hand well then go that route, as for extra protection you can get larger capacity mags that will work just fine.
but it all comes down to comfort & that is whithout a doubt the most important issue when it comes to a 'battle gun', you want to have that piece of ease if & when you need to rush into a panic mode knowing you have what you need.

I have a 9mm M&P Pro, with the 5" barrel. I love the trigger on it. I take up the slack, until l feel resistance, then at that point the trigger breaks very crisply, almost like a single action trigger. I compared it with a Glock G34, and I thought the M&P had the better trigger, and I love the grip, with it's interchangeable backstraps. It feels like it molds itself to your hand. I've also not had ANY problems with it, no FTE, or FTF, stovepipes, or other issues. Comes with two 17 round mags. A lot of people add that APEX trigger kit and they say it really makes a difference on the standard models. I don't know how they could improve on the trigger on the Pro series.

Either of the 3 is a good choice. I'm partial to Glocks. The 19 is a good all around gun that you can conceal well or add larger magazines when necessary.
Same but different. 32 round 40 S&W.

Is that the Korean 32 round .40 S&W Glock magazine? I saw one on CDNN for mid $30s. I was wondering how it feeds? My Glock factory 33 round 9mm feeds a lot better than the Korean copy, so I was wondering how the Korean 32 rounder feeds vs the Glock 22 round?

Barth's picture is of the real factory mag. I have a bunch of them and I HEAR they work fine. The 33-round Glock 19/17/34 magazine is a 31-rounder with the factory +2 base added... by Glock. The index on the rear only goes to 31, but that's the way Glock sells these mags.
The Korean, or whatever, mags need to EARN your trust and may need some TLC, but I've heard nothing bad about the factory 33-rounders, except that they run $40+... usually. I bought mine for $40 but I've seen them at $33 or so each + shipping.

Yup. The only bad part about the 33 round Glock factory mags is the price. They feed great and don't bind up when loading. The Korean ones I've got are "range use only". The factory 33 round sits in my G19 on the nightstand, along with the TLR-3 Streamlight on the rail.

I was going to suggest the M&P, because I would try that myself. But, those 31 round magazines are priceless. Of your choices, that might swing me to the Glock. I would probably still go with the P09 personally because my CZs are so sweet.

If the M&P fits your hand better, get it. You don't want to hate shooting your gun but shrug and say, "But it's a Glock."

Yes it's a Korean mag. I also have some of the Glock happy sticks. I've never had an issue with either.

I've actually got three 22 round OEM Glock 40 S&W Big Sticks for my G27.
They have been flawless for me.

If it was me I get the one that felt the best in my hand and shot the tightest groups. All three are good guns.

My vote goes to the M&P, as soon as I held one I had to have it. I bought the Core with the milled slide. I needed to be able to mount a sight on mine. It just felt right in my hand, Glock didn't feel as good and I put in the Apex trigger and it breaks almost as well as a 1911. I haven't had one hiccup at all on mine. I also bought a 9mm conversion barrel and shoot both .40 and 9mm through it. It is also very accurate since I got that Leupold Deltapoint on it. I can't really knock the Glock, I know it's reputation, but the M&P is every bit as reliable as the Glock, fits my hand better and shoots wonderfully. It just works. Go try one out at the range and make your own judgement. The .40 had very little felt recoil for me. Good Luck, Oh and one other thing, the M&P is much nicer looking than the Glock.

I can't sit quiet and not suggest a HK P30 V1 Light LEM.
Even in 40 S&W the recoil is very manageable.
Light LEM is a same pull every time crisp clean 4.5 lbs trigger.
And it has a grip to die for.
As for a Battle Gun - my FS USP Tactical 45 is hard to beat.
12+1 230 gr +P 45 ACP has my vote.
