Well everybody , I just ordered 10 , 50 round boxes of 165 grain Speer Gold Dot from SG ammo. I have been looking for several months to find some online and they finally e-mailed me when they were in stock. They had about 60 boxes when I ordered mine at 4:00 today and I just checked and they are already out again.
I had planned to share the info with everybody tonight but guess I am too late, sorry.
It seems the 165 grain 40 caliber is the hardest to find for some reason, don't know if it is the most popular , or maybe the least popular and not stocked as much.
You can still occasionally find the 20 round (overpriced) boxes but that just chaps me to pay too much for ammo because of a "marketing scheme".
This should solve my ammo problem for the foreseeable future.

I've been able to find Blazer Brass in 165gr FMJ. I find it more accurate out of my K40 for some reason. I've never tried the Gold Dots for the reason you mentioned: only available in very pricey 20 round boxes.
Good find, OMC. Gold Dot is in high demand. Gotta buy it when you see it, cuz it doesn't last long.

Maybe speer is catching up with demand?? I hope so.
I've seen Gold Dots showing up more on-line in recent weeks, also. But since I have my share of Gold Dots, Critical Defense, Critical Duty and Golden Sabers, I'm not looking for any HD ammo. And since the wife and I went shooting yesterday, my 9mm range ammo is depleted. There's plenty of Blazer Brass out there cheap and both my 9mm's eat them just fine.

Lucky gunner has 50 round blocks of HP Gold Dots in 230 grain for my PM45 for $36 bucks - bought 200 rounds for $157 delivered. Thought that was a good price. Anybody find any better?
That's 78.5 cents/round. I found at least 9 online vendors selling it from 58 to 80 cents per round. I've ordered from this place: https://alamoammo.com/pistol-ammo/9mm/9mm-luger-gold-dot-115-gr-hp-50-rnds-m-id-53614-upc-076683536143?#xml before and he's selling at 60 cents/rd.
OOPS! Sorry. I quoted 9mm... duhhh.

I started reading your reply and thought I got stiffed by over paying for my Gold Dots - then you said oops! In this economy I am always looking for low priced ammo - thanks for your reply.

It's easy to price shop on the internet. Use this site:
http://www.gunbot.net
Select your round, sort by price per round, and check the "View in-stock only" box. This will bring up a current list of available ammunition with the lowest priced ones at the top.
If you're looking for a specific brand (Gold Dot), use your browser's Find menu to search the page. For example, as of today, the cheapest 40S&W Gold Dot is 58 cents per round from SGAmmo. Obviously, the buyer pays shipping, but if bought out of state no sales tax is collected.
Be aware some suppliers are not listed. Bud's Police Supply for example is not, although Buds Gun Shop is. Gunbot is updated frequently. I've never clicked on a listing where the supplier was out of stock.
